The importance of the Star Wars shows can be perceived by the significant presence of the Disney+ Star Wars series in the Lucasfilm D23 2022 presentation. In fact, all of the Star Wars announcements at D23 2022 were about the Disney+ Star Wars series. Nothing was revealed regarding the next Star Wars movie at D23, and there were no updates on Taika Waititi's Star Wars movie or The Mandalorian season 3 with new trailers and release date announcements. Here’s a breakdown of all Star Wars announcements and trailers from D23 2022.

New Andor Trailer

Andor season 1 will release on September 21 on Disney+, and while a few trailers and spots had already been released, Lucasfilm premiered a brand-new Andor trailer at D23 2022. The newest Andor trailer highlights the morally grey aspect of what would become the Rebellion, with Cassian Andor mentioning spies, saboteurs, and assassins being part of the movement. The trailer showcases Cassian Andor infiltrating some sort of Imperial operation, and it reveals a clash between three pillars of the early Rebellion – Mon Mothma (Genevieve O'Reilly), Saw Gerrera (Forest Whitaker), and the mysterious Luthen Rael (Stellan Skarsgård). As previously announced, Andor season 1 will have 12 episodes followed by an also-12-episode Andor season 2.

Lucasfilm has also revealed Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi’s release date. All episodes of Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi will drop on Disney+ on October 26. While most Disney+ shows have followed a weekly release, it makes sense that the Tales of the Jedi episodes will drop all at once considering the show’s length. Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi season 1 will only have six episodes, all of which will have a 15-minute runtime. As previously revealed during the Star Wars Celebration, Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi will focus on Ahsoka Tano and Count Dooku.

Star Wars: Tales Of The Jedi Trailer

On top of announcing Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi’s release date, Lucasfilm has released the first Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi trailer. The Tales of the Jedi trailer offers a first look at the anthology Star Wars series, highlighting different moments in the lives of Ahsoka Tano and Count Dooku. Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi’s trailer showcases Ahsoka's family and a baby Ahsoka Tano, and it confirms that the show will dive into Count Dooku’s days as a Jedi before the character fell to the Dark Side. Qui-Gon Jinn, Mace Windu, and Yaddle will also appear in Tales of the Jedi as confirmed by the trailer.

Dave Filoni highlighted how many of the Ahsoka crew grew up on Star Wars: The Clone Wars, followed by Jon Favreau thanking Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy for the opportunity to make the Ahsoka series. A behind-the-scenes look at Rosario Dawson as Ahsoka and a brief scene with Sabine Wren looking at the Star Wars Rebels’ ending mural was shown, but neither of them will be released to the public.

The Mandalorian season 3's trailer briefly recaps Din Djarin and Grogu’s first encounter, with the duo described by The Armorer as a “clan of two.” The first The Mandalorian season 3 trailers highlight several new Mandalorian characters of many different clans, and it confirms that Katee Sackhoff’s Bo-Katan will oppose Din Djarin. Bo-Katan accuses the Mandalorian of fracturing their people while sitting on a throne, setting up an inevitable confrontation between the Nite Owls leader and Din Djarin.
