Though not entirely given his due, Jinn still holds a special place in the hearts of fans. Jinn represented the living Force as its avatar, exuding his quiet, confident, paternal energy. Perhaps this is why Jinn was able to become a Force ghost, offering aid and guidance to the Jedi when they were most in need.
Fans were treated to Jinn's reappearance in the Obi-Wan Kenobi series. As seen in the finale, the ghost of Qui-Gon looked to impart wisdom from beyond to his former Padawan, Obi-Wan, signaling a beautiful, feel-good moment for Star Wars fans.
Warmonger Knock
One of the key figures in the galactic events of the Skywalker saga, Qui-Gon Jinn was sent as a diplomatic envoy to help resolve the blockade of Naboo by the Trade Federation. Unknowingly doomed to fail from the outset, Jinn failed to resolve the conflict, leading to the invasion of scenic Naboo and beginning the fall of the Republic.
While technically accurate, the knock on Jinn's unsuccessful negotiations perpetuating a conflict that would see the galaxy embroiled in war for the next 30-plus years is unwarranted. Jinn gave everything he had, even his life, in hopes of preventing the darkness from coming, proving himself a stalwart Jedi Master.
Rousing Dinner Conversation
A crucial scene from the Phantom Menace is this nuanced dinner conversation with the Skywalkers. Primarily serving to acquaint Jinn with the Skywalkers properly, the conversation quickly evolves after Jinn catches Jar Jar's tongue mid-flight attempting to steal fruit.
This leads to the revelation that Jinn is a legendary Jedi of the Republic, seemingly brought to Anakin through the will of the Force. From here, Jinn will protect Anakin, assuring he is trained as a Jedi in accordance with prophecy.
Always A Bigger Fish
Jinn was a well-traveled man, garnering many diverse life experiences and forming a more well-rounded view regarding the Force. Notably, dropping witticisms throughout Episode I, Jinn profiles as a motivational coach, observing, listening, and dispensing wisdom where appropriate. In addition, Jinn's unflappable nature and balanced, soothing tone make the sage advice more believable.
Upon making the journey to Gungan City, Jar Jar Binks, Kenobi, and Jinn explore the aquatic ecosystem encountering multiple predatory species. Ultimately Jinn and company are saved by a bigger predatory monster prompting the quick-witted Jinn to deliver one of his best quips, "there is always a bigger fish."
