Star Wars: The Battle of Jakku – Republic Under Siege (2024) #3 – written by Alex Segura, with art by Stefano Raffaele – finds Luke targeted by a new enemy, the Spice Runners of Kijimi. Fans familiar with the lore surrounding Beilert Valance know that the character was a classmate of Han Solo at the Imperial Naval Academy on the planet Carida. The two had a competitive relationship, but after Valance's TIE fighter went down, and he was left for dead, Solo went back for him. With the help of the other cadets, Valance's life was saved, but the crash resulted in his first set of cybernetics. Valance continued to fight for the Empire, but after sustaining too many injuries and cybernetic replacements, he was discharged from the Empire, and eventually became a bounty hunter.
