Beilert Valance is making his return to Star Wars comics in the post-Return of the Jedi era, as the protagonist of Marvel's Bounty Hunters comic series comes to the aid of Luke Skywalker when he needs it most. The young Jedi Master may have prevailed at Endor, but as the Battle of Jakku commences, he finds himself overwhelmed by multiple enemies on multiple fronts; thankfully, Valance is there to help.

Fans familiar with the lore surrounding Beilert Valance know that the character was a classmate of Han Solo at the Imperial Naval Academy on the planet Carida. The two had a competitive relationship, but after Valance's TIE fighter went down, and he was left for dead, Solo went back for him. With the help of the other cadets, Valance's life was saved, but the crash resulted in his first set of cybernetics. Valance continued to fight for the Empire, but after sustaining too many injuries and cybernetic replacements, he was discharged from the Empire, and eventually became a bounty hunter.
