One of the coolest parts of being a Jedi is wielding one of Star Wars' lightsabers - a near-unstoppable weapon that can cut through almost anything and repel blaster fire, albeit only in the hands of the most capable wielders. Described by Obi-Wan Kenobi as "a more elegant weapon of a civilized age," the Lightsaber is all about control and deliberate, considered use... which explains why the Jedi Order kicked out the Jedi master who turned his into an explosive sniper rifle.

The Farkiller could kill its targets from over a hundred kilometers away...

In 2019's Doctor Aphra #32 - from Simon Spurrier, Wilton Santos and Caspar Wijngaard - fans learn the story of Oo'ob the Apostate, a Gigoran Jedi who was excommunicated from the Jedi Order after a series of assassinations carried out using the Farkiller - a lightsaber that had been converted into a powerful gun by the Jedi crystallist Var-Whill.

STAR WARS JEDI FARKILLER LIGHTSABER SNIPER RIFLE

The Farkiller could kill its targets from over a hundred kilometers away, delivering an explosive blast of kyber crystal energy. Oo'ob devised the weapon after his experiences in the Corsair Wars, beginning a mission to assassinate potential planetary despots before they could seize power.

The story of Oo'ob the Apostate was recorded in a repository of Jedi Heresiologes discovered by Korin Aphra, confirming that Oo'ob was officially considered a Jedi heretic.

The Jedi Farkiller Is a Unique Sniper Rifle Lightsaber

Jedi Master Oo'ob the Apostate Was Kicked Out of the Order for Its Creation

The Farkiller is an incredibly impressive weapon, taking the traditional lightsaber and turning its usual cutting power into a high-powered 'bullet' of kyber energy. It's likely that over such huge distances, the Farkiller required the same Force sensitivity to use effectively, but with safer and more destructive results for the . Given the value placed on life and restraint by the Jedi High Council, it makes sense that Oo'ob and Var-Whill were both excommunicated from the Order, with Oo'bo being ed as Oo'bo the Apostate

However, that wasn't the end of the Farkiller's deadly journey. Almost one thousand years after Oo'bo left the Jedi Order, his Farkiller was stolen by rogue archeologist Chelli Aphra. Aphra provided the Farkiller to Imperial minister Pitina Mar-Mas Voor, who used it as part of a plan to assassinate Palpatine. Voor believed that the Emperor's lack of focus on prosperity made him a danger to the Empire's potential, and planned to have the Farkiller sabotaged and conveyed into Palpatine's hands, killing him via booby trap.

Ultimately, Aphra sold Pitina Mar-Mas Voor out to the Empire, leading to the traitor's execution by Darth Vader. While the Farkiller hasn't been seen since, it can be assumed that it entered into Palpatine's possession, given his interest in the artifact both as a weapon and as a memorial to Jedi heresy. Where it went next is up for debate, but it's always possible that Star Wars will choose to bring back the Farkiller - a unique lightsaber sniper rifle so powerful, the Jedi Order banished its creators.
