Electronic Arts has just revealed a slate of new Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. EA has been developing Star Wars games since 2016’s Star Wars Battlefront reboot, and while the publisher’s work within the Galaxy Far, Far Away has proved to be divisive among fans, there have been a few well-received games to come from Disney’s partnership with EA, such as the aforementioned Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, and 2020’s flight-simulator throwback title Star Wars Squadrons.

EA is far from the only AAA publisher working on new Star Wars games, as its exclusive rights to the franchise seemingly expired early last year. This has allowed other companies to team up with Disney for new interactive Star Wars adventures, such as Ubisoft's open-world game, while Quantic Dream has also announced the High-Republic-set Star Wars EclipseOf course, this doesn't mean the end of EA-developed Star Wars games, though the publisher remained largely silent on any new game announcements throughout 2021.

Respawn is a fitting studio for these new Star Wars games, as the Apex Legends developer released the first Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order to great reviews in 2019. Fans enjoyed the story of Jedi-Padwan-turned-fugitive Cal Kestis as he traveled the galaxy in search of the last remnants of the Jedi, as well as Fallen Order's solid exploration and combat gameplay. EA has already confirmed that it is aiming to produce an entire series of Jedi: Fallen Order games due to the original's success, and even Cal's voice actor Cameron Monaghan has weighed in on the possibility of exploring a darker path for his character in the sequel.

Between Star Wars Eclipse, Ubisoft’s open-world Star Wars game, and this newly announced trio of EA-published projects, there is certainly no shortage of exciting games on the horizon for Star Wars fans. EA’s freshly-announced slate of Star Wars titles covers a wide range of genres, meaning that fans will have plenty of variety in how they wish to explore the iconic universe. Much of these new Star Wars games is still shrouded in mystery, so players should stay tuned for more information on them as it unfolds.
