Warning! Spoilers ahead for Star Wars: The High Republic #6

In the latest issue of Marvel's Jedi Marshal Avar Kriss made the decision to and fight alongside the Hutts, who had previously been longstanding rivals. However, desperate times call for desperate measures, though the Jedi Master's decision may have unforeseen consequences.

In prior issues of The High Republic from writer Cavan Scott and Georges Jeanty, the Drengir were unleashed, and not even the Jedi are immune to their corruptive powers. Being plant-based creatures of the dark side, the threat they pose to the galaxy is unmatched. After to the corruption and infection of Jedi Master Sskeer, the Jedi became aware of the massive infestation, with the Drengir's dark seeds already having been spread across the Outer Rim.

Now, Star Wars: The High Republic #6 sees Avar Kriss allying the Jedi with Myarga the Hutt and the Hutt Clans, despite their rivalry as the Republic has been expanding into their territories. Being the epitome of "the enemy of my enemy is my friend" mentality, Avar Kriss spoke of this new battle against the Drengir as the Jedi's "defining moment." With the Drengir having spread and taken root across literally hundreds of worlds across the galaxy, the Jedi have sprung to action with the Hutts by their side, ready to bring their light and repel the dark side monsters (and look really cool while doing it).

High-Republic-6-Defining-Moment

All that being said, it seems as though there are those among the Jedi Order who see Avar's new alliance as risky and challenging, to say the least. While the pact has been achieving results, it seems as though of the Jedi Council are uneasy about the ultimate endgame with the Hutt Clans. However, Jedi Knight Keeve Trennis was able to connect with the mind of her corrupted Master Skeer, and together they were able to discover the location of The Great Progenitor, the largest Drengir and key to the creatures' destruction. Not only that. but Master Sskeer was finally freed from the Drengir's infection thanks to the of his former Padawan.

Whatever happens, seeing the Jedi Order allying themselves with the Hutt Clans is certainly a defining and critical moment for the galaxy and hopefully it will be enough to save it from its darkest infestation. However, not only is the alliance somewhat tense and uneasy to begin with, it's certainly problematic that the Jedi Council may interfere and prevent the pact from continuing in future issues. So here's hoping Marshal Avar Kriss and her Jedi Forces of The High Republic will be able to win the day and be the galaxy's light no matter what happens.
