Due to the large number of outstanding characters, it’s not surprising that many get overshadowed. This is not a reflection on their worth, however. These interesting characters play a major part in making the galaxy feel vast and immersive. It goes without saying that many characters deserve some long overdue hype.

Riff Tamson

Riff Tamson in Star Wars The Clone Wars

The Clone Wars provided fans with many memorable new species. In the Mon Cala arc, fans were introduced to the badass sharklike Karkarodon, Riff Tamson. Tamson was a cunning warlord who sparked a civil war between the Quarren and Mon Calamari with the end goal of conquering their planet for the Separatists.

His tactical mind and brutal combat skills make him a formidable foe for the Mon Calamari and Republic forces. For these reasons, he is arguably one of the most effective Separatist commanders during the war. It’s a shame there weren’t more stories with him, but at least he went out with a bang!

Ima-Gun Di

Ima-Gun Di in Star Wars The Clone Wars

This Jedi master quite literally lives up to his name. Master Ima-Gun Di made his first and only appearance in the season 3 episode “Supply Lines.” In the episode, Ima-Gun Di leads a suicide mission to hold off a massive wave of droids so the Republic can aid the starving people of Ryloth.

One of the strongest aspects of The Clone Wars was its ability to further flesh out the relationships between the Jedi Order and the people they were protecting. In his episode, Ima-Gun Di showed the lengths ordinary Jedi would go to protect those suffering in the galaxy. He truly epitomized what it meant to be a guardian of peace and justice.

Moralo Eval

Moralo Eval in Star Wars Clone Wars

With the name Moralo Eval, it’s easy to assume that this villain was a merciless killer without any sense of decency. Eval made his debut in the episode “Deception,” where he was freed along with Cad Bane by a disguised Obi-Wan in part of a larger plan to prevent the assassination of Chancellor Palpatine.

Once free, Eval subjected Obi-Wan, Cad Bane, and a group of bounty hunters to “The Box,” in an attempt to see who was fit enough to carry out the assassination. The twisted creativity he displayed throughout the ordeal made him feel unique amongst all the other scum and villainy in the galaxy. It was very satisfying to see him bested by Obi-Wan in the end.

EV-A4-D

EV-A4-D in Star Wars The Clone Wars

This hilarious medical droid does not deserve to be forgotten! His first and only appearance was in the Season 1 episode "Lair of Grievous.” Throughout the episode, EV-A4-D had many memorable quips as he repaired General Grievous. It appears that he is the only droid who can talk back to the asthmatic cyborg without fear of being sliced in half.

It's a shame this droid got cut down later in the episode by Kit Fisto. The chemistry he had with Grievous was very entertaining to watch. Imagine if he was there to repair Grievous after his humiliating loss to the Gungans. That would’ve been comedy gold!

Cut Lawquane

Captain Rex comes across a clone who has deserted from the Galatic Republic named Cut Luquane in the Clone Wars

In the episode "Deserter," Rex is severely injured while hunting General Grievous and needs to recover in a nearby farmhouse. Later in the night, Rex is confronted by Cut, a Clone deserter who lives a simple life as a farmer. The two share a couple of tense moments at first, but over time as Rex sees Cut’s honor to his family, his perspective shifts.

Cut's arc was a perfect way to show the true autonomy of clones. His choice to raise a family and live a life outside of the war showed that the troopers had more options in life than they were presented with. This makes their ultimate fate even sadder. Luckily, Cut returned in The Bad Batch and showed the group how to adjust to their new lives.

99

Clone 99 from Star Wars The Clone Wars

99 stands out as one of the kindest and most loveable characters in Star Wars. Despite the troubles he faced because of his physique, he was able to hold himself with dignity while he worked as a janitor on Kamino. Throughout the Domino Squad’s difficulties through training, 99 was a constant source of wisdom and encouragement from them.

With his encouragement, the Domino Squad ed their training and became some of the best troops in the Republic. 99 finally got his chance to be a soldier during the Battle of Kamino, though it would end tragically. His death is one of the saddest moments in the Clone Wars series, though even in death, he would still be an inspiration to others.

The Son

The Son in Star Wars The Clone Wars

It is interesting to consider that the enigmatic embodiment of the dark side is still more sympathetic than Darth Sidious. That's what makes the Son so fascinating. He shows that the true nature of the dark side is more complex than being evil per se. Despite being in constant conflict with his sister, the Son’s attachment to her prevents him from wanting to kill her.

The Son’s unique Force abilities also add another layer of mystery to his character. Why does he transform into a giant bat? Why is his force lighting red? How can he shape-shift? These questions, and the complexity of his dynamic with the Force, make the Son an unforgettable villain. And, voice actor Sam Witwer gives a memorable performance yet again.

Jesse

Jesse in Star Wars The Clone Wars

Jesse made his first on-screen appearance all the way back in Season 2 and has been a reoccurring member of the 501st ever since. While many other clones take the spotlight, Jesse’s struggles with his brothers in arms make him a tragic and complex character that deserves more recognition.

During the Umbara arc, Jesse worked alongside Fives and Hardcase to take out a Separatist supply ship despite the orders of General Krell. He was almost executed by his own brothers but was spared when they refused to follow through with their orders. Sadly, Jesse would be forced to carry out Order 66 in the finale, despite his friendships with Rex and Ahsoka.

Mother Talzin

Mother Talzin in Clone Wars

Mother Talzin is an often overlooked villain who deserves significantly more hype. Her design and creepy echoing voice make her one of the most interesting characters in the Star Wars series. She would be the primary influence on Ventress, Savage, and Maul’s character development throughout the series.

The enigmatic relationship she has with the Force raises many questions that deserve to be further fleshed out. It's a shame that her last on-screen appearance was in the "Disappeared" arc with Mace Windu and Jar Jar Binks, but at least she got a chance to show her skills in the Son of Dathamir comic.

Barriss Offee

Barriss Offee in Star Wars The Clone Wars

Barriss stands out as one of the most interesting characters in Star Wars. She made her first appearance in Attack of the Clones as one of the many background Jedi who took part in the battle of Geonosis. Throughout the Clone Wars series, Barris would become disillusioned with the hypocrisy of the Jedi.

Her ability to plan and execute the Jedi Temple bombing scheme is a testament to her skills as a tactician. It's interesting to consider how her terrorist attack would inadvertently push Anakin further to the dark side by causing one of the worst things that ever happened to Ahsoka. Would Anakin become Darth Vader if Ahsoka was by his side during Revenge of the Sith?
