Andor, starring Diego Luna's eponymous character from Rogue One, finally dropped, including a brand-new 2023 release date.
Given that this series takes place in the special sweet spot of the Star Wars timeline just before A New Hope, there are a number of iconic characters from the franchise that could feasibly make a cameo or extended appearance in the show. Certain fans on Reddit have spoken out regarding who they wish to see in the show's first season.
Bail Organa
When prompted to produce their first choice for a key Star Wars character cameo in Andor, a Reddit by the handle of TheUnspeakableHorror spoke up, writing that they think that "Bail Organa" could be a good choice. Organa, though a very important Star Wars character, has only appeared in live-action three times, played by Jimmy Smits.
Organa is not only a very feasible choice given the character's prominence at this point in the Star Wars canon, but he is also a very likely candidate for a cameo. It appears that the series will deal heavily with the formation of the Rebel Alliance, which Organa was intensely involved with. Such an appearance could solidify the character's importance in the larger franchise.
Mas Amedda
Redditor PalekSow believes that Mad Amedda should appear in the series, reasoning that this would be "a good opportunity to use the actual second-ranking person in the Empire's official political structure." They, of course, refer to Palpatine's right-hand man, a Chagrian who served in both the Republic and the Empire.
Amedda is a character mostly known to hardcore fans, but recognizable to those who enjoy the franchise more casually, making him the perfect choice to appear in the series. Andor could expand on Amedda's role in the Empire and the franchise itself, while lending a political presence that implies the power of the Emperor without actually featuring the Sith ruler.
Ahsoka Tano
Redditor terrymcginnisbeyond has a plethora of suggestions regarding possible cameos in the first season of Andor. Among these is the implication that "Fulcrum could give some orders to Andor." Viewers of Star Wars: Rebels will know that Fulcrum is a Rebel informant later revealed to be Ahsoka Tano herself.
Ahsoka has been receiving plenty of attention in Star Wars media over the last few years. Her live-action debut in The Mandalorian followed by an appearance in The Book of Boba Fett and her forthcoming spinoff series seem to imply that the former Jedi will continue to be a major part of the franchise moving forward. If this is the case, including her in Andor, even just as a cameo, could be the perfect way to keep her in fans' minds moving into her own series next year.
Obi-Wan Kenobi
"I know it's a long shot," writes Abject_Cellist_4896, "but I'd love to see Obi-Wan Kenobi show up in this show too. Who knows? Maybe Andor is a direct followup to Obi-Wan's series." Ewan McGregor has recently spurred up fan intrigue in his return to the role of the exiled Jedi in his self-titled spinoff series, though there has been no official word on whether or not he will continue on to different projects.
While another appearance from McGregor would be fantastic, it seems unlikely, given Andor's proximity to the events of A New Hope, where Obi-Wan would most resemble Alec Guinness. However, nothing is impossible when it some to Star Wars, and fans will have to wait and see what the character's future might look like as one of the most memeable characters in Star Wars finally returns to the screen.
Hera Syndulla
Darth_Texan believes that "Hera Syndulla," the pilot of the Ghost and a Rebel General during the Galactic Civil War, should return for Andor. As the character has only ever appeared in animation, such an event would mark her live-action debut in the franchise.
Hera is a fan-favorite character from Rebels, who has recently made a return in The Bad Batch. The character is clearly a part of the formation of the early Rebel Alliance, making her a great candidate for Andor. Some fans even believe that an actress has already been found to portray the Twi'lek, as Mary Elizabeth Winstead's unnamed casting in Ahsoka has raised some eyebrows.
The Bad Batch
Among many other characters from Star Wars lore, Redditor terrymcginnisbeyond believes that some or all of the of the Bad Batch could appear in the show. They write that the crew of defective clones could be operational at this point, though they "doubt whether Disney [would] want to give them too much story yet when they haven't even had a second season."
Hunter, Wrecker, Tech, Crosshair, Omega, and Echo are considered to be some of the best clones in all of Star Wars, who, with the exception of Crosshair, did not obey Order 66 to kill the Jedi. The fate of these clones is yet unknown, as they still await the premiere of their second season on Disney+. Nevertheless, a cameo from one or all of these clones would certainly work out in the franchise's timeline.
Jar Jar Binks
PalekSow has an interesting idea regarding an old character's return. They write, "I see there's gonna be a political angle in the show, so our boy Jar Jar could make an appearance," continuing on to say that they would love to see a more weathered and forlorn version of the character, who would be a far cry from the happy-go-lucky character seen in the prequel films.
While Jar Jar has been an almost universally hated character since his introduction in The Phantom Menace, many fans have warmed to the idea of seeing him return, especially in a more serious capacity. There were even once rumors of his appearance in Obi-Wan Kenobi, though this seems unlikely now that the series has begun to air. Even so, Andor seems to deal heavily with the Senate, in which Jar Jar continued to serve as a representative to Naboo in his last appearance.
Grand iral Thrawn
Cooked_Cat writes that "[Grand iral] Thrawn would be nice to see" in Andor. Thrawn is a fan-favorite antagonist originating in the Legends canon before being brought over to canon in Star Wars: Rebels. The character is a cunning strategist, who is perhaps the brightest mind in all of Star Wars.
Thrawn seems to be the linchpin of Star Wars' streaming future, with his character presumably acting as the villain in the Ahsoka series. The character was certainly active in the Empire during the events of Andor, and could very well appear as a major villain.
Cad Bane
Redditor terrymcginnisbeyond makes an interesting observation regarding Andor's timeline, reminding fans that a certain beloved bounty hunter could very well make a cameo or more in the series. "Cad Bane would still be working," they write, implying that the beloved Duros could show up once more in live-action.
Cad Bane is a bounty hunter who appeared in some of the best episodes of The Clone Wars before making his long-awaited live-action debut earlier this year in The Book of Boba Fett. The character could make for an interesting appearance in Andor, as his alignment is ambiguous at best, making him a wild card in every single one of his appearances.
Emperor Palpatine
Abject_Cellist_4896 believes that the Big Bad of Star Wars could have one more appearance left in him. They are of the opinion that Emperor Palpatine himself could show up before the series wraps up its first season, writing "[it] looks like we're getting the Senate, so [we] might as well get the actual Senate in there too," referring to a popular meme referring to Palpatine as "the Senate."
While an appearance from Palpatine seems unlikely given Ian McDiarmid's recent comments about a possible return, there is still hope for fans of the character. Andor comes at the height of Palpatine's power in the galaxy, meaning that, even if the character does not physically appear in the series, his presence will be felt nonetheless.
