Even the characters who played no role in Rogue One had brilliant endings, though, which includes not just Andor's heroes, but the villains as well. One such end was Syril Karn's, as he finally got his final face-off with Cassian that he'd been waiting years for, only for Cassian to reveal he had no idea who Syril was before Syril was shot and died. Even more satisfying than Syril's death, though, was the conclusion to Dedra Meero's Star Wars story, which gave Cassian Andor the perfect revenge.

Dedra Wound Up In The Same Kind Of Prison Cassian Escaped From

She Got What She Deserved—And It Was Poetic Justice For Cassian

Orson Krennic, arguably the biggest villain in Rogue One despite Darth Vader's cameos, was the one to confront Dedra when she was accused of being a traitor to the Empire. Although she swore to her innocence and all but pleaded with Krennic to believe her, in the end, these accusations landed her in jail. The final shots of Dedra in Andor show her isolated in her own cell, distraught at the outcome of her role with the Empire.

This is truly Cassian Andor's perfect revenge, as this prison is very similar to the one in which he was imprisoned in Andor season 1. In fact, it's arguably worse, as at least Cassian was not subjected to complete isolation. It's unclear what is in store for Dedra in the future, but, at least based on what was shown in the Andor finale, she is going to suffer this cruel fate, left to mull over all her decisions that led her to this end.

One of the most satisfying aspects of this conclusion for Dedra, in addition to its similarity to Cassian's imprisonment, is the fact that Dedra was thrown into this prison specifically because she had been loyal to the Empire. Throughout Andor, Dedra proved that she was willing to go to horrific lengths in an attempt to rise through the Imperial ranks. The key example of this was her involvement in the Ghorman Massacre, during which she unfeelingly witnessed the brutal killings of peaceful protesters.

What this ultimately goes to show is that the Empire's cruelty is not limited to the Rebels or the larger galaxy. Rather, the Imperials have no qualms about being heartless and brutal to even other Imperials because, in the end, they only care about power. Dedra herself fits this description, but she was so blinded by her loyalty that she failed to consider that the Empire could turn against her, too. This is in part what made this storyline so perfect: it reinforced how truly evil the Empire was.

Cassian Andor actor Diego Luna and Bix Caleen actress Adria Arjona share their opinion on that shocking Bix twist at the end of Andor season 2.

The New Republic Would Never Have Punished Dedra Like This

In The End, Dedra Only Doomed Herself

New Republic senators and Mon Mothma in Ahsoka season 1.

What's especially ironic about Dedra's fate is the fact that even the New Republic would not have treated Dedra this way. In the Ahsoka show, we see how the New Republic dealt with Imperials, which included giving them a chance at rehabilitation. This was an incredibly comionate approach for the New Republic to have—one that I'd argue few Imperials deserved—but the leaders of the New Republic recognized that many Imperials were acting in ignorance and granted them the opportunity to see the error of their ways.

Interestingly, Dedra's fate could still be changed when the Empire falls, although that seems unlikely to ever be shown on screen. Presumably, the New Republic went through the Imperial prisons at some point, which could mean Dedra's eventual release. Even so, it was incredibly satisfying to see the outcome of Dedra Meero's loyalty to the Empire, especially because of its connection to Cassian Andor.
