Warning! This post contains SPOILERS for the Andor season 2 finale!

Following Bix's baby to the revelation that Dedra Meero actually faced consequences for her actions. One choice in particular has left some audience rather upset, though.

Across social media, Star Wars audiences are reacting to the absence of Jyn Erso (including even as a name-drop in the Andor season 2 finale. Many feel as though she has been erased from the story.

Some have also specifically called out what they perceive to be a plot hole, if not a retcon, given Cassian is confirmed to have discovered Jyn.

Ultimately, there were always going to be grievances with Andor season 2, as there are with any show (though arguably Star Wars movies and shows in particular), but is it true that the Andor season 2 finale erased Jyn Erso?

Why Andor's Success Doesn't Affect Jyn Erso

This Show's Focus Was Cassian Andor (And Others), Not Jyn, And That's Okay

While it's fair for some viewers to be disappointed that Jyn wasn't in Andor because she's such a great character, genuine outrage is a bit surprising. From the beginning, and as the title makes clear, it is Cassian, not Jyn, who is the focus of Andor. Yes, the show could have shown or mentioned Jyn at some point, but it's also evident in Rogue One that she was very new to the rebellion, and giving her a substantial arc in this story wouldn't really have made sense.

The sentiment is captured well by DankFerrick on X, who articulates that Rogue One is about all the heroes, and Jyn's later arrival "doesn't diminish her role."

Especially given Rogue One already confirmed the later stage at which Jyn ed the rebel cause, and the newness of the relationship between Jyn and Cassian, the idea that Jyn's absence in Andor is an insult remains a bit surprising.

Our Take On Whether Andor Season 2 Has "Jyn Erasure"

Nothing About Andor Takes Away From Jyn's Story Or Her Importance

Cassian Andor and Jyn Erso in Rogue One.

ittedly, I didn't expect to see Jyn Erso in Andor, so I do not share the outrage. Sure, given Galen Erso's name-drop in Andor season 2, episode 10, it was conceivable that Jyn would be mentioned before the end, but it didn't seem that jarring to me when that didn't happen. More than that, the idea that Jyn has been erased feels like a major jump to me, as her significance cannot be diminished. Rogue One proved that Jyn had a massive influence in Star Wars movies and TV shows, and no one project could take that away.

It's true that Star Wars: The Rebel Files by Daniel Wallace confirmed it was Cassian who discovered Jyn, but there are a host of ways this could still be true without contradicting Andor. It's possible that Cassian was researching more about Galen on his journey to Kafrene, for one. Whatever the case may be, I heartily disagree with the notion that Jyn Erso has been erased by Andor—or the idea that she could ever be erased in Star Wars period.
