Warning! This post contains SPOILERS for Andor season 2
Star Wars movies and TV shows completely out of the water. This season is gritty, brutal, and real—all descriptors that perfectly fit the intention of season 2, which is to depict the impact of the Empire and the years leading up to a full-blown war on everyday people. Clearly, those efforts are paying off.
Per IMDB, Andor season 2, episode 8, is now ranked among the most highly-rated TV shows of all time. This episode just dropped last night, as the middle of the three episodes in Andor season 2's penultimate three-episode arc. While all the episodes of Andor season 2 have been full of action, violence, and major updates to Star Wars, episode 8 was unique in myriad ways. Perhaps the most significant update in episode 8 was the long-awaited depiction of the Ghorman Massacre.
Andor Season 2 Deserves Its Praise
This Was Truly Peak Star Wars, In So Many Ways
While Star Wars has put out many brilliant TV shows in recent years, from The Mandalorian to Ahsoka, and so many others, Andor season 2 really deserves this praise and recognition. I heartily agree that it is among the very best. Episode 8 in particular felt like such an elevated version of Star Wars, maintaining the core themes and foci of Star Wars but taking itself so much more seriously than is typical in the franchise.

This is particularly pivotal for this show, which aims to represent what these events were like for the people on the ground—especially those who possessed no incredible power or famous lineage. In fact, Andor season 2's place in the Star Wars timeline specifically demands this type of realism, as we are seeing the formation of the Rebel Alliance and the catalyzing events that kicked off a full-fledged war. The Ghorman Massacre is a great example of this.

Andor season 2 is heavily hinting that one of Star Wars' most gruesome events is impending, but it may look quite different than many are expecting.
Our Take On Andor, Star Wars' Best TV Show
Andor Season 2 Is In A League Of Its Own
To be frank, I am truly blown away by all that Andor season 2 has already accomplished. In just 9 episodes, it has managed to depict the Dark Times in ways that feel brand-new, despite several Star Wars shows, such as Star Wars Rebels and Star Wars: The Bad Batch, taking place during this era as well. It's also managed to do something I thought impossible, which is complicated Imperials in a way that doesn't make them just out-and-out detestable (with Dedra and Syril).
Andor season 2, episode 8, in particular handled the Ghorman Massacre masterfully, managing to capture how truly gruesome, evil, and horrifying this attack was. This is even more impressive given how long audiences have waited to see this key event depicted, making the pressure all the higher. I'm beyond excited to see what the final three-episode arc in Andor season 2 has in store, but I'm so glad this most recent arc is getting the praise it's more than earned.
