Lucasfilm has released an exclusive new first look at best live-action Star Wars TV show to date. The second season is due out on April 22, and it will span the five years immediately before Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and A New Hope. Marketing is finally underway, with an initial first trailer for Andor season 2 releasing just last week.
Disney has released an exclusive first look at Andor season 2 on DIsney+, timed to coincide with the launch of Daredevil: Born Again. It features several interviews that have already been teased on StarWars.com, but also shows some new footage of major civil unrest, the rebels working to steal a prototype TIE Avenger, and even hints of Mon Mothma in the Galactic Senate. Most excitingly, though, the subtitles confirm crowds involved in the civil unrest are chanting in a language called "Ghor."
Ghorm Is A Massive Tie To The Star Wars Expanded Universe
One Of The Empire's Worst Atrocities
The Ghorman Massacre hails from the old Expanded Universe, where it was established as a key moment in Mon Mothma's personal journey as a rebel. Protestors opposing punitive Imperial taxation attempted to prevent Captain WIlhuff Tarkin's ship landing; he simply landed on them, killing them, with implied permission from Palpatine. In Legends, this was the event that led Mon Mothma to realize legal methods were insufficient to defeat the Empire.

Andor Season 2: Trailer, Story, Updates, & Everything We Know
Andor season 1 ended with an explosive finale, leading many to wonder what season 2 has in store for the characters of Star Wars’ most exciting show.
The Ghorman Massacre has made its way into canon, name-dropped in sourcebooks and visual guides. Mon Mothma mentioned concerns about Ghorman in ANdor season 1, and most viewers assumed this was setup. Personally, I was convinced the unrest shown in Andor season 2 was tied to the Ghorman Massacre; it looks as though I'm right. What's more, it seems Cassian Andor will be on the ground.
Andor Season 2 Is A Vital Chapter In The Rebellion's Story
This Is The Rebel Alliance Story I've Always Wanted To See
Andor season 1 focused in on Cassian's personal story of rebellion, while also setting up the broader narrative of the different rebel cells. It laid the tracks, and Andor season 2 is the juggernaut, showing how these disparate cells come together to form the Rebel Alliance. The scale is very different, as proven by the inclusion of the Ghorman Massacre. Looking at the footage so far, this seems to have been styled after a real historic event; the 1989 Tiananmen Square massacre.
I can't help feeling that Andor season 2 is being positioned as essential viewing for Star Wars fans. It's the journey to Rogue One, and from there, to the very first Star Wars movie. Even more excitingly, three episodes will release every week for a block of four weeks - essentially meaning we're getting a new movie every week. This couldn't be more thrilling.
