Captain Christopher Pike's crazy hair when he turns into a Vulcan in San Diego Comic-Con, Star Trek: Strange New Worlds unveiled a first look clip of a season 3 episode directed by Jordan Canning where Pike, Ensign Nyota Uhura (Celia Rose Gooding), Lt. La'an Noonien-Singh (Christina Chong), and Nurse Christine Chapel (Jess Bush) become Vulcans. Pike's already famously tall hair takes on shocking new dimensions as a Vulcan.
In an interview with Collider at San Diego Comic-Con that includes the cast and executive producer of Star Trek: Lower Decks, and Star Trek: Strange New Worlds executive producer Akiva Goldsman and stars Ethan Peck and Rebecca Romijn, Henry Alonso Myers points to Anson Mount as the source of Pike's Vulcan Peak in Strange New Worlds season 3. Read Myers' quote and watch the Collider video below:
That was 100% Anson. We were talking about what different types of hair to do, and he said, 'I had this one idea. 'And I was like, 'Just try it.' And he did it and Akiva and I looked at it, [and] we were like, 'That’s it, 100%. Don’t bother trying anything else. We have to do this.'
Captain Pike's hair has been lovingly dubbed 'Pike's Peak' by Star Trek: Strange New Worlds' fans, and it has inspired popular memes.

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Season 3 - Cast, Story, Trailer & Everything We Know
Star Trek: Strange New Worlds season 2 ended with an epic cliffhanger and here's everything known about when it will be resolved in season 3.
What's Next For Captain Pike In Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Season 3?
Becoming a Vulcan is just one of Pike's challenges
Before Captain Christopher Pike and the USS Enterprise crew become Vulcans, which happens later in Star Trek: Strange New Worlds season 3, the prequel must resolve the cliffhanger ending of Strange New Worlds season 2's finale. Captain Pike was placed in a no-win scenario when Starfleet orders the Starship Enterprise to retreat from hostilities with the Gorn. Meanwhile, of Pike's crew were kidnapped by the alien reptiles. Making matters worse, Pike's girlfriend, Captain Marie Batel (Melanie Scrofano) was infected by Gorn eggs.
Melanie Scrofano appeared on stage with her Star Trek: Strange New Worlds cast mates at STLV: Trek to Vegas, which could indicate Captain Batel survives into season 3.
Captain PIke becoming a Vulcan in Star Trek: Strange New Worlds season 3 means Lt. Spock (Ethan Peck), who is only half-Vulcan, suddenly fears for his job security. Captain Pike doesn't take it easy on Spock, either, reminding him that the USS Enterprise now carries "four-and-a-half" Vulcans. There's much more yet to come for Captain Christopher Pike in Star Trek: Strange New Worlds season 3, and becoming Vulcan is just one of many twists in store for the Captain of the Enterprise.
