Just a few months after the stressful second season, Squid Game season 2's games are chock-full of dramatic irony, as Gi-hun and Jun-ho meet again by chance years after their fateful first encounter when they are both in the middle of meandering tactics to find the island where the Games take place. But Gi-hun is still entirely unaware that the Front Man (Lee Byung-hun) is Jun-ho's brother.

While Gi-hun makes a risky move by reing the Games, Jun-ho tries to find him before this tournament ends, with a crew that may be about to collapse. Squid Game season 3's trailer hints at Jun-ho's half of the plot picking up in the installment, after being stalled for most of season 2.

Squid Game Season 3's Trailer Finally Sees Jun-ho Reaching The Island Where The Games Are

Jun-ho Seems To Have Finally Found The Island Again

Squid Game season 3's first teaser trailer seems to show Jun-ho, in scuba gear, on another island's shore, and later bursting into a luxurious room, armed and ready. The obvious conclusion is that he has managed to locate the island, after two years of searching for it. Narratively speaking, Jun-ho has to get back to the island pretty soon, as he is a major character and isn't going to spend the rest of the series aimlessly sailing the surrounding waters. In order for him to be ingrained in season 3's intrigue, he should arrive fairly quickly.

Jun-ho's Season 3 Story Already Looks Better After He Was Sidelined For Most Of Season 2

Jun-ho & Gi-hun's Alliance Was A Great Star To Season 2, But Then They Were Separated

Thanks to the new footage and the gripping details provided by the end of season 2, we can expect a much more exciting and involved storyline for Jun-ho in season 3. The story beats surrounding him and Gi-hun finding each other again and agreeing to work together actually make for a very thrilling start to season 2, as we get invested in this new partnership. However, as Gi-hun gets pulled back into the plot of the actual Games, Jun-ho doesn't have much to do. Then, a whole boatload of theories about Captain Park (Oh Dal-su) sprung up in the finale.

Jun-ho appears to be completely committed to helping Gi-hun find and take down the Front Man in season 2.

How Jun-ho actually finds the island is sure to be interesting when Park seems to be trying to sabotage the mission, possibly because he is a past winner of the Games, or is the that has been collecting dead players' organs from the guards to sell all this time. If Park has been misleading him this whole time, Jun-ho needs to figure that out and use it to his advantage, as Park likely does know exactly where the island is. Then, there is the dramatic fallout that happens when Jun-ho actually gets there.

With Jun-ho's arrival, some promising confrontations need to happen between him, In-ho, and Gi-hun. Based on Squid Game season 1's ending, Jun-ho is horrified by what his brother has become a part of. He appears to be completely committed to helping Gi-hun find and take down the Front Man in season 2. Yet, he doesn't tell Gi-hun about his brother; he's probably compartmentalizing it because he intends to do everything in his power to help Gi-hun and is still processing the personal side. Jun-ho's conversation with his mother suggests that he means to hold In-ho able.

And yet, In-ho probably does have good enough aim to have actually killed Jun-ho; if Park is part of the Games, he might have saved Jun-ho on orders from his brother. With the brothers' relationship so strained yet hinting at lingering affection, as well as the widespread theory that Gi-hun will become the new Front Man, Squid Game season 3 may end up including a chilling storyline about how In-ho justifies his actions and actually convinces Jun-ho and Gi-hun. It's still a stretch, given the horrors In-ho has enabled, but Jun-ho will still want to know his reason why.
