Indie studio Assemble Entertainment has unveiled its latest and most original title, Squadron 51, an Mystery Science Theater 3000 will be overjoyed at the faithful look and theme of this retrofuture fight for humanity against UFOs and alien overlords.
Putting players in the cockpit of protagonist Lieutenant Skaya's fighter plane, Squadron 51 centers around a classic struggle between a scrappy group of rebels and oppressive extraterrestrials, who have revealed their true intentions after a seemingly peaceful first . Steam.
While Assemble's past producer credits unfortunately include the likes of delayed Cuphead: The Delicious Last Course, so those craving the shmup sections of that acclaimed title will probably find themselves right at home with Squadron 51 in the meanwhile.
Squadron 51 will be available on PC in 2021.
