In between all that, Spider-Man: No Way Home will include familiar faces from the MCU. In addition to the usual cast of ing characters, Benedict Cumberbatch will appear as Doctor Strange. His role is expected to help pave the way for next year's void left by Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) and become Peter's new mentor. So far, Doctor Strange's role in Spider-Man: No Way Home has mainly been teased through merchandise reveals.
Now, though, fans have received their first glimpse of Doctor Strange and Peter in a scene together. In a new Spider-Man: No Way Home set photo shared by Not3CFilm (via Spider-Man: No Way Home News), Doctor Strange stands on the front steps of the Sanctum Santorum and greets Peter, who is dressed in his full Spidey suit. Doctor Strange is also in his full costume, perhaps indicating that the two have just finished dealing with some major threat. Check it out below.

Avengers: Infinity War, and their interactions provided some humorous moments as the bright-eyed Peter struggled to impress the more serious doctor. How their relationship has evolved by the time Spider-Man: No Way Home begins remains to be seen, but it will surely play a pivotal part in the film. With so much going on, Doctor Strange might not have as big of a role, but it'll be fun to see him nonetheless.
Peter will have his hands full in Spider-Man: No Way Home. In addition to the expected multiverse issues, he'll still be dealing with the fallout of 2019's Spider-Man: Far From Home. Peter's secret identity was revealed to the world, and he was framed for the death of Mysterio (Jake Gyllenhaal) in the movie's mid-credits scene. Perhaps that's where Doctor Strange will first come in; since he lives in the same city as Peter and already knows who he is, he can offer refuge and assistance at the Sanctum Santorum. That could even be what's happening in the above photo, since Peter's suit looks similar to the one he wore in Far From Home. Hopefully more news about Spider-Man: No Way Home emerges soon and sheds more light on what to expect.
