8 Deaths of Spider-Man comic arc, and it seems that Spider-Man's final death might just be permanent.

Big things have been happening in the Marvel Universe since Doctor Doom became the Sorcerer Supreme. Despite his new powers and responsibilities, Doctor Doom isn't too keen on keeping up with the duties established by Doctor Strange, and he's delegated those tasks to Spider-Man instead. While Spider-Man is always up to accepting new responsibilities, it seems he's finally in over his head, as The Amazing Spider-Man #68 and The Amazing Spider-Man #68.DEATHS tease his lasting death.

THE 8 DEATHS OF SPIDER-MAN CONTINUES! With Spider-Man now DEAD, it’s up to the X-Men to win the day and save the universe. But why are they fighting EACH OTHER?!?!

Seeing an opportunity to strike, Cyttorak has invaded Earth with his scions, and it takes everything Spider-Man has to try and fight them off. Even with Spider-Man's magical new suit and his ability to revive eight times, it seems that Spider-Man just can't keep up, and the plot synopses directly tease that Peter Parker has finally been killed trying to save the world.

Spider-Man Gives His Life For Doctor Doom

Marvel Shows the X-Men Continuing His Battle

spider-man serves doctor doom

Spider-Man has gone up against some incredibly dangerous criminals in the past, but he rarely fights magical or god-like villains. That's why Doctor Doom had to infuse Spider-Man with eight lives, so that every time he died on this quest he'd be able to come back and try again. Unfortunately, it seems that even the eight lives of Spider-Man aren't enough. Despite trying his best to hold off the scions of Cyttorak, Spider-Man expends his lives and is finally killed. But exactly what this death means for the friendly neighborhood Spider-Man still isn't clear.

Marvel obviously won't be willing to permanently lose Spider-Man, but heroes including Wolverine and Steve Rogers' Captain America have been 'dead' for years in the past, and Pete's clone Chasm has been circling him lately, essentially wanting to steal his life. It's possible Doctor Doom is playing 4D chess to take Peter off the board and replace him with Chasm or - even worse - leverage his ninth resurrection to put him in Doom's debt. Art for the One World Under Doom event shows Marvel's heroes bowing to the villain, so it would make sense that his initial plans are to establish control over them.

Doctor Doom is setting the stage to take over the entire planet, and he began that process by recruiting Spider-Man to his most dangerous mission yet. What does Doom truly want from the 8 Deaths of Spider-Man, and what can Peter and the X-Men do to stop him? All fans know right now is that Spider-Man is going to die, but it's the consequences that are really going to change everything.

Amazing Spider-Man #67 is on sale from Marvel Comics on February 12, 2025!

Spider-Man is the name given to several individuals who have employed a spider-moniker throughout Marvel Comics. Typically gaining their powers through a bite from a radioactive spider, the different Spider-Man heroes employ super-strength, agility, and intellect while utilizing webbing to swing and tangle up their foes. The most notable of these Spider-Men is Peter Parker, who remains one of the most popular superheroes throughout the world.
