Warning! Spoilers ahead for Amazing Spider-Man #3!Every fan’s going to absolutely be cringing at the direction Deadpool and Spider-Man flowing through her veins is back, and she’s got some surprising (and squicky) words for her long-lost ‘father-figure’.
In Amazing Spider-Man #3 by Joe Kelly and Pepe Larraz, Peter is fighting with Itsy Bitsy, who is trying to kill the Rhino. However, the duo's battle is interrupted by Ravencroft's security, forcing Itsy Bitsy to flee and bring Spider-Man with her.
Itsy Bitsy talks with Spider-Man about how she got a second chance at life working for a new boss and, while she holds powerful feelings for Spider-Man, she won't hesitate to kill him if he follows her. Itsy-Bitsy draws Spider-Man in for a kiss, only to push him off a bridge and remark how screwed up she is.
Spider-Man's 'Daughter' Has Powerful Feelings for Peter
Marvel Switches Up Peter Parker's Relationship with Itsy Bitsy
For those unfamiliar, Itsy Bitsy was once an average woman who got the upgrade of a lifetime. As part of one man’s revenge against Spider-Man and Deadpool, Itsy Bitsy agreed to have her DNA spliced with that of Deadpool and Spider-Man. This gave her all the two heroes' best abilities, from spider-sense to regeneration. Though Itsy Bitsy was believed to have died at Deadpool’s hands, she survived and recently reappeared working for Roderick Kingsley. She’s now assisting the Hobgoblin as he distributes a new drug throughout New York that’s causing wild hallucinations for anyone unfortunate enough to encounter it.
Just for the record, Itsy Bitsy isn’t blood-related to Spider-Man, nor is she actually his daughter. That was originally more of a joke on Itsy Bitsy’s part, referring to how she got her powers from Peter and Deadpool. That being said, it is an incredibly odd pivot that someone who has been referred to as Spider-Man’s daughter is now all of a sudden expressing an attraction to him (after all, she discusses how hot she finds Spider-Man even when alone). Granted, it’s not as gross as if Itsy Bitsy were actually related to Spider-Man, but it’s still pretty uncomfortable.
Should Marvel Just Move Past Itsy Bitsy's Connection to Spider-Man?
This is Getting Into Some Pretty Uncomfortable Territory for Everyone
Oddly enough, this isn’t the first time Spider-Man’s had someone oddly attracted to him thanks to his powers (lest anyone forget Cindy Moon). But unlike that situation, Silk was never likened to a family member for Peter. Sure, it’s all in jest, but the shifting nature of Itsy Bitsy’s fondness for Spider-Man could be a bridge too far for readers. Having someone who once called herself Peter’s daughter now trying to jump his bones is just uncomfortable. Hopefully, Spider-Man likely won’t reciprocate these feelings and Marvel can just move on from this incredibly odd direction for the iconic hero’s ‘daughter’.
