Scheduling a sequel one year after its predecessor is virtually unheard of. A four-to-five wait period between installments is a suitable one for movies the size of the Spider-Verse films. Unlike most animated projects, the Spider-Verse movies employ dozens of animation styles simultaneously — each of them requiring intricate attention to detail and their own tailor-made approach to help them coexist with the others.

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse had the largest animation crew in movie history, with more than a thousand animators working on the movie's various animation styles and larger-than-life action scenes. Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse is aiming to raise the bar even further, meaning that it may have an even bigger crew and even more ambitious sequences than Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse and Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse.
