We break down when the first introduction of Tom Holland's Spider-Man in Captain America: Civil War, the character has led his own solo film and appeared in Avengers: Infinity War. Next, he'll return for Avengers 4 and the Phase 4 launchpad, Spider-Man: Far From Home.

Of course, Marvel Studios' Spider-Man isn't the only Marvel character Sony has brought to the big screen in recent years. The studio recently launched MCU movie's 2019 release date, it may give us an idea of when the first trailer for Spider-Man: Far From Home will release.

Because Spider-Man: Far From Home is technically a Sony Pictures movie, the studio handles the distribution and marketing - not Marvel Studios. As a result, it makes sense Sony would want to have the first Spider-Man: Far From Home teaser trailer ready to play in theaters alongside the release of Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. That means the Spider-Man: Far From Home first trailer will probably arrive in mid to late December. However, that's still speculation as neither Sony nor Marvel has offered any insight about when the first trailer will officially debut.

UPDATE (December 5): It's been rumored the first Spider-Man: Far From Home trailer will release on Saturday, Dec. 8.

UPDATE (December 6): The Spider-Man: Far From Home trailer has been rated ahead of Sony Pictures' at CCXP on Saturday, Dec. 8. It was since pushed back.

UPDATE (January 14): The  trailer is rumored to release on Tuesday, January 15. Tom Holland has tweeted teasing a first look soon.

UPDATE (January 14): Here's when to expect the Spider-Man: Far From Home trailer to release online.

Tom Holland as Spider-Man in Spider-Man Homecoming

Since Spider-Man: Far From Home is the third MCU movie to hit theaters in 2019, a late 2018 release for the first trailer makes sense. The Avengers 4 trailer will arrive before the end of 2018, making a December release also possible. Given that, it's still possible the Spider-Man: Far From Home trailer also arrives in December, in time to play in theaters with Into the Spider-Verse as well as the other big movies releasing that month (like Warner Bros. and DC's Aquaman).

As for what the Spider-Man 2 picks up moments after Avengers 4, meaning Sony's trailer will inevitably spoil Marvel's Phase 3 capper. To what extent is unclear, but it's also possible the Far From Home trailer focuses more on its own story than the aftermath of Avengers 4. That way, Sony can market their Spider-Man movie without ruining any surprises in Avengers 4.
