A soulsborne master and Elden Ring Modder Beats The Game With A Piano
The Soulsborne Series Has Been Well & Truly Dominated
FromSoftware's lineup of soulslike RPGs has evolved over time, and the differences between each game apparently made playing multiple titles back-to-back even harder. For example, Sekiro and Bloodborne evolved combat away from earlier soulslike titles by putting an emphasis on aggression rather than defense. Sekiro, in particular, is more of an action game with enhanced mobility and an emphasis on fast-paced parrying. Even FromSoftware's more similar titles, like Dark Souls and Elden Ring, have unique mechanics that make it difficult to transition between each game. Dino told Kotaku that technical differences heighten the challenge, too, with Bloodborne operating at 30 frames per second while the Demon's Souls remake reaches 60 FPS.
FromSoftware games are infamously hard, but the soulslike fanbase is determined to further increase the difficulty through community challenges. Dino's "God Run" is the ultimate test of soulsborne skill, but other self-imposed limitations like an Elden Ring pacifist run can push the envelope in different ways. This peculiar challenge tasks players with beating the open-world epic without killing a single enemy, which is surprisingly possible. The run requires heavy use of Spirit Ash summons, which kill enemies to keep the player's hands clean, along with sleep-inducing items and tactical stealth.
FromSoftware's soulslike catalog may be the hardest series in all of gaming, but Dino has proven complete mastery of the action RPG saga. By clearing all seven games without taking a single hit, the Twitch streamer has demonstrated that a "God Run" marathon is actually possible. Games like Elden Ring and the Demon's Souls remake are hard to simply beat, so clearing them all in a row without taking damage is a tremendous feat.
