The five different islands players explore throughout Sonic Frontiers eventually leads players to the end of their journey, unlocking a new method of revisiting old areas to find every item present in the game. Players looking to truly complete every aspect of Sonic Frontiers have plenty of options when tackling the post-game content, which unfortunately does not come with any New Game+ options at the moment. Although certain upgrades are discovered naturally through level progression, collectible items are sometimes lost during the chapters of the main narrative, which players are more than welcome to return to after finishing their adventure.
The best things to do after beating the game include replaying any of the 30 available missions in the new Arcade Mode, facing the secret boss of Sonic Frontiers if not encountered already, and collecting every item in the game through Purple Coins or Fishing. While power-ups such as Super Sonic are achieved as a necessary objective during the game, there are some goals that players might encounter but not quite finish prior to the end credits. Arcade Mode provides an opportunity for players to backtrack to segments where items were missed or never really pursued.
Post-Game Sonic Frontiers
The secret boss of Sonic Frontiers, also referred to as "The End", demands a similar challenge equivalent to the Titan super-bosses located around the sections of the Open Zone and other Island regions. Players that traverse Sonic Frontiers desiring a more casual playthrough may not wish for such an encounter, playing through the game first without running into this optional boss for a more balanced experience. However, after becoming more familiar with Sonic Frontier's parry mechanics or general combat systems, players may gain enough confidence in their abilities to take on this foe at their leisure, using the Arcade Mode replay to gather stat-boosting items they couldn't beforehand.
Items of varying rarity are scattered all over Sonic Frontier's map, including ways to increase Ring Carry Capacity and overall Speed stats for Sonic. Despite the disorientation, it may cause on the first run of the game, players that beat Sonic Frontiers may wish to go back and maximize Sonic's speed or Ring Capacity to unlock certain trophies or achievements, or just see the optimization of the blue blur's potential. Purple Coins, acquired in order to participate in Big the Cat's Fishing mini-game, are another hard-earned collectible players may not want to invest time into at first. Purple Coins are everywhere on the map, or collectible during Starfall Events. Players that use Purple Coins to fish can net special catches like Treasure Chests, Hermit Scrolls, or other strong items.
No matter if players are simply filling out all the items off a checklist they were not able to complete before, Arcade Mode provides ample instances after beating Sonic Frontiers. Even the absence of New Game+ does not deter the player from re-experiencing the high-paced interactions staple to the series, now able to be explored further during the post-game through Sonic Frontier's fast travel and later traversal systems. Players looking to accomplish the best tasks after beating Sonic Frontiers are given a chance to correct their choices from before, unveiling avenues they did not think about while playing the game blindly.
