She was part of some of the most famous SNL sketches of the last decade. From the Target Lady to Gilly, to Kris Jenner Kristen was a winner with character-led sketches. Here are some of her most iconic SNL roles

The Tiny Hat Lady

SNL Tiny hat sketch Kristen Wiig, Amy Poehler

One of the most hysterical Kristen Wiig sketches on SNL was the one with the tiny hat which fans to this day. The sketch also featured Amy Poehler who played Trish, a rich fashionista who wears a small hat to lunch one day. This triggers a lot of jealousy in her friend Sylvia, played by Kristen, a competing socialite who clearly wants all the attention to herself. Next day, Sylvia shows up in a tiny hat just like Trish’s, however Trish has upgraded to an even tinier hat causing a sensation in the city, which drives Sylvia crazy and leads her to actually spend millions of dollars on a microscopic hat that is not visible to the naked human eye.

Kalle

SNL Katy Perry Kristen Wiig

Kristen has a flair for accents and during a sketch she portrayed a Finnish talk show host in a show named Kalle. The sketch was meant to take a dig at some of the European talk shows which have very little conversation and a lot of focus on video clips of the guests.

Katy Perry plays herself and is invited as a guest on Kalle, where she is subjected to an onslaught of videos about her life, about her arrival at the airport, and movie clippings of her then-husband Russell Brand, which leaves Katy quite flustered.

The QVC commercial

SNL Kristen Wiig, Cecily Strong

Easily one of the funniest sketches on SNL, the QVC commercial features Kristen and Cecily Strong playing two suburban housewives both of whom share a dream of hosting QVC. Clearly, there is a lot of animosity between the two frenemies and neighbors and they both try to shoot their QVC auditions in their homes and simultaneously try to slander and defame their competition as well. Though Cecily was great as an angry housewife, Kristen took the cake with her fake poise and accent.

Kris Jenner

In the sketch Kris is depicted as an attention-hungry manager who doesn’t just use her daughter's personal lives to stay in the spotlight but also really wants to look younger and wants to be treated as a Kardashian sibling.

The Women Of SNL

The Women of SNL Sketch featuring Andy Cohen

The Women of SNL sketch was designed along the lines of a Real Housewives reunion episode and even featured Andy Cohen as the host who looked just as helpless as he does on the Bravo reunions. The sketch was meant to feature all the female comedians on SNL to take a look at what’s up with their lives, and Kristen plays a vengeful guest on the show who picks a fight with Maya Rudolph and accuses her of ‘pulling her weave.’

Shana

Kristen Wiig Shana on SNL

Some of Kristen’s most memorable sketches are the Shana ones, where she plays an attractive brunette with a silky voice who is a little dumb but is obviously popular with the men.

But Shana also has some ‘non-sexy’ habits like eating with a lot of splatter, sniffing the foam of her hot chocolate in a weird way, and unnecessarily going into unpleasant details which is a major dampener for the men who are drooling after her. This sketch was obviously conceived as a dig on casual workplace misogyny and Kristen’s brilliant acting is the best part.

Mom Talking To Megan Fox

Kristen Wiig Megan Fox on SNL

In one of her sketches, Kristen plays a mum who talks to Megan Fox in the laundry room, as her daughter, who’s Megan’s friend is getting ready. One of the most wholesome sketches on the show Kristen plays a classic mum who’s not really aware of how big a star Megan had become after Transformers and gives her some pretty mundane mom advice, which is not really useful to Megan and asks her questions like “so what kind of a crowd do you run around with?".

Two A-Holes

Kristen Wiig Jason Sudeikis on SNL

The Two A-Holes sketches featuring Kristen and Jason Sudeikis found a lot of popularity because they were fresh and funny. The sketch featured a really annoying, rich, and entitled couple who would constantly chew gum and waste people’s time and it was never certain what they’re looking for exactly.

In one of the sketches, Kristen and Jason show up at the Mad Men’s Sterling Cooper advertising agency to hear a pitch about their product which is a suspendable hula hoop, and shoot down all prospective pitches and leave without making a decision.

The Californians

Kristen Wiig, Bill Hader on SNL

To be fair, almost every person on The Californians sketches on SNL has aced their role, be it Bradley Cooper or Josh Brolin. Kristen plays Karina a rich housewife whose husband Stuart is pretty suspicious of her and there’s a lot of family drama in general. But the one thing which seems to be a common talking point is the elaborate driving directions and parking guidelines through LA, which also make for really funny moments considering finding validated parking in LA really is a nightmare.

Target Lady

Kristen Wiig on SNL

Any SNL loyalist would agree that the Target Lady was Kristen’s most iconic role ever; it’s possible that the role was written for her, because it’s impossible to picture anyone else in her shoes. The premise of the Target Lady sketches is basically centered around an over-enthusiastic Target cashier who seems to be in love with her job, which is quite the contrast because everyone around her is just getting by. She also makes the customers really uncomfortable by asking weird questions and holding up the line, so much so that some customers actively avoid her counter.
