A new fan-favorite Minecraft's Steve would be ing the fray. The reaction was mixed to the newcomer, but it is yet another very important step towards cementing a firm partnership between Microsoft and Nintendo.

Xbox has slowly begun ing Nintendo in small but meaningful ways in the past year or so. Titles like Minecraft have always been a major part of Nintendo's library, but lately, this has expanded to more software deals – with Xbox Game Studios' own Ori series debuting on Switch. Other initiatives between the two have seen Cuphead arrive on Nintendo Switch and even Banjo-Kazooie debut in Smash Bros Ultimate, but there's still one more step the duo could make together.

Since the aforementioned arrival of Banjo in Smash (not to mention rumors of Halo being ported to Nintendo Switch), gamers have been hoping to see Master Chief Smash Bros Ultimate as a DLC fighter. While a handful of gamers believe that at least some of his momentum has had a wrench put in it by the game's Minecraft crossover, the official Xbox Twitter seemingly hasn't given up hope. In a recent exchange with a fan asking about Chief in Smash, the Xbox responded  by stating that “He’s still waiting for his invitation.

Of course, this is more than likely the social media team for Xbox having fun with the fallout of Minecraft's Steve ing Smash. It also marks the second time that Xbox has commented about wanting to see Master Chief in Smash Bros after the official Halo Twitter suggested that Spartan-117 should be added to Nintendo's crossover fight title.

At this point, it's almost impossible to say who will Super Smash Bros Ultimate as DLC next. ittedly, the trend thus far (outside of the poorly-received reveal of Fire Emblem's Byleth) has seen franchises that previously had no representation in the game finally get fighters – with an overwhelming majority being from third-party franchises. That may bode well for the odds of a character like Crash Bandicoot ing Smash Bros, but only time will tell.
