While most Steve was officially added to Smash Bros. Ultimate and there are still four more DLC characters set to the fight. It's anyone's best guess as to who Nintendo might have in mind for Smash's next DLC character, but luckily, someone found a hint within the files of the game.
Shortly after Steve was added to Smash Bros. Ultimate Andree123 posted an interesting finding on a SmashBoards forum page. They'd discovered five empty slots in the voice clip section of the sound test menu. This is interesting because there are only four more characters planned for Smash's current Fighter's . A similar discovery was made after Terry Bogard was added to the Smash Bros. Ultimate roster. The character with multiple voice clips later turned out to be Byleth, who can be played as either male or female.
Despite technically being four different characters, this extra audio file discovery posted to Smash DLC characters will feature a second character or will come in multiple genders. This doesn't directly reveal who the mystery character is, but it does help give an idea of who they might be.
Crash And Coco Could Be The Mystery Smash Character
When considering who this Smash Bros. Ultimate character is, it's hard not to overlook the obvious option. Crash Bandicoot has been one of the most sought-after characters among Smash fans. The addition always seemed ridiculous, but with so many other Sony properties already on the roster, Crash's addition to Smash Bros. Ultimate doesn't seem all that crazy. Crash Bandicoot 4 has been rumored to receive an eventual Switch port, which would make for the perfect opportunity to add Crash. Even more, Crash 4 features Coco as a playable character. If the game is ported to the Switch, it seems possible Crash and Coco could both be added to the Smash roster as one character.
Another potential option, which is also somewhat obvious, would be a character from Smash Bros. Ultimate's rumored Fortnite character.
This mystery character could also be two characters at once, similar to the Ice Climbers. With Resident Evil 4 remake would open the door to the possibility. For a partner, Ashley Graham would make for an interesting choice to go with Leon. The Raccoon City police officer would mainly used for attacking, while Ashley would be able to provide by grabbing items and helping with recovery. ittedly, it's a stretch, but it would a viable use for the extra audio file. There isn't one clear-cut answer to who this mystery character might be, so fans will just have to wait for Nintendo to reveal more information about the next Super Smash Bros. Ultimate DLC character.
