The ambitious Skyrim's game engine.

Skyblivion's development officially started in 2012. The goal is to port and rebuild all of Oblivion's Cyrodiil into both Skyrim and Skyrim: Special Edition. TESRenewal wants the finished product to be completely free to those who own both Oblivion and Skyrim with both games' DLCs (a requirement for the mod). The experience will also be totally modular, meaning individual players can choose which specific parts of Skyblivion to include in their game. The project is a huge undertaking, and now those who are curious can get a bit more insight into what to expect from TESRenewal's Skyblivion with the latest video update - although a release date for the mod is still unavailable.

YouTube channel Elder Scrolls modding community's "talents" for allowing the project to grow and reach its goals these past several years.

The Skyrim modding community has boasted some of the most comprehensive mods across all of gaming, which includes the likes of Enderal, a mod so massive that it is essentially its own game. Another recent, fully modded Skyrim uses over 500 mods, making the game look completely new. Such creative has allowed Skyrim to feel fresh and maintain a good portion of its player base to this day, despite releasing in 2011. Through Skyrim's engine, it is possible Oblivion could receive the same innovative treatment, as shown by TESRenewal's Skyblivion project.

It says a lot about the quality of both Oblivion and Skyrim to still receive this much fan attention so long after they first hit shelves. With the release date of The Elder Scrolls 6 seemingly nowhere in sight for the next few years, it is up to projects like Skyblivion to maintain interest in the single-player Elder Scrolls games. If the finished product is even a fraction of what TESRenewal is promising, then Skyblivion will certainly keep fans occupied while they await future series installments.
