How To Start The Very Veggie Legacy Challenge
Be Ready To Dedicate Your Sims' Lives To This Challenge
As shared in a stream archived on the moresimsie YouTube channel, lilsimsie's The Very Veggie Legacy Challenge tasks families with going through 10 generations and accomplishing a number of key tasks throughout that time. She is currently still working out the kinks with this challenge, but everyone is welcome to begin the challenge as is. To start, you must have one young adult founder Sim. A founder Sim is the first Sim to begin a legacy challenge with nothing to their name, no money, family, or job.

Every New Kit Added To The Sims 4 (April 2025)
Restoration Workshop, Kitchen Clutter, and Golden Years kits will enhance Sims 4 even further by adding more content and chaos to the sims lives.
When creating the Sim, you will use the assigned traits and aspirations for the first generation. The first generation will kick-start this challenge and be the foundation for generations to come. While there is structure when it comes to creating your Sims, you are allowed to choose your own likes, dislikes, and preferences. After you create your initial founding Sim, move them to an empty lot of your choice. You must turn on the cheats with "testingcheats on" and then use "money 0" so your sim will begin with absolutely nothing.
All Rules For Veggie Legacy Challenge
Follow The Rules To Maximize The Challenge
For the general rules of the Very Veggie Legacy Challenge, you must play through 10 generations and finish all the listed goals for each Sim to complete this challenge. If you are missing a trait or career, you are allowed to substitute it with something similar from a pack you own. Once your Sim can afford to, you are allowed to move to other neighborhoods.

The Sims 1 & 2 Legacy Collections Review: Memories Of A SIMpler Time
The Sims 1 and 2 have been re-released to be playable on modern PCs as part of The Sims 25th Anniversary, but are they worth picking up in 2025?
Other than cheating to remove all money at the very beginning, you must avoid using any money or gameplay cheats. Even getting rich without cheats isn't allowed if you aren't following the specific careers for your specified generation. The ultimate goal of this challenge is to have fun, so you are allowed to adjust the rules to fit your own play style.
When your founder Sim has children, you will choose one child to be the heir to the next vegetable in the challenge. The next generation officially begins when you complete the rules of the previous generation and the heir is a young adult.

At the bottom of the Very Veggie Legacy Challenge Spreadsheet posted by lilsimsie, she clarifies that these rules are subject to change and advises other simmers to just have fun with the challenge. She considers her rules more of a guideline than anything else, but does mention that these are the rules that she is playing by. She also defends that while she realizes some of the generations listed in the rules are technically fruits, she would argue that they are culturally vegetables.
Packs Needed For Challenge
All Packs To Get Full Experience
If you want to gain the full experience of this unofficial challenge, you can utilize all the packs used in the official rules. However, in the rules, it does provide a way to complete the entire challenge using solely the base game, so you don't technically need to have any of these packs to participate.
