Shonen Jump's recent round of cancelations came new manga announcements, and one series, in particular, is sticking out.
Shonen Jump is no stranger to hitman and assassin manga. In fact, some of their most popular series have hitman main characters, such as Spy x Family and Sakamoto Days. Even with many other titles with this trope, a new manga is promising to stand out. The newest manga from Kuroko's Basketball creator Tadatoshi Fujimaki called Kill Blue was just announced and is already featured on the front page.
Shonen Jump has High Expectations for Hitman Manga Kill Blue.
Kill Blue is unlike any other hitman manga Shonen Jump has published, and it holds up well against other similar titles so far. The series folows Juzo Ogami, a middle-aged hitman at the top of his game. As a career hitman who has worked for his organization since he was a kid, Ogami knows little outside his job. However, he finds his current life boring and meaningless. Despite having a child, he doesn't know how to talk to her, and his marriage fell apart long ago because of it. Alone and regretful, Ogami wonders if he could have done anything differently when he was younger. Little does he know, he's about to get a chance to relive his lost youth.
The beginning of Kill Blue is normal for a hitman manga. What really makes this series unique is the twist in the first chapter. Ogami reverts back to his middle school self! He never went to middle school, but now in a thirteen-year-old body, his boss takes advantage of his predicament and has him attend a school to scope it out. How will a middle-aged hitman who grew up being trained to kill survive going to school with actual kids?
With a stellar first chapter and funny premise, Kill Blue promises to mix comedy with a touch of melancholy as Ogami navigates his new life. Maybe it is because the idea is so unique that Shonen Jump has decided to really push this series. With a full-color spread on the front page on its first week of publication and multiple posts about the manga on their Twitter , the new title is certainly getting a lot of attention. Whatever the reason, fans should listen to Shonen Jump and check out Kill Blue, because it looks like it could be the next big hit!
