A lot was revealed about Rosemary in the Shining Vale season 1 ending as well, namely that she butchered her entire family and then committed suicide in the tub. In addition, Graynor found Valerie's necklace buried in the backyard and accused Pat of murdering her. The pills that Pat took earlier in the episode to remove Rosemary's host, i.e. herself, kicked in, and she woke up on a stretcher on the way to the Shining Vale psychiatric hospital. The most interesting point in the finale sees a photograph of the mental hospital with a woman who appears to be Rosemary, but the dates don't line up as the photo was taken in 1859 and Rosemary and her family died in 1954.

The Shining Vale season 2 story picks up four months after the season 1 finale, with Pat returning from her stint in the hospital and struggling to connect with her family.
