In issues of her solo Marvel Comics series, Jennifer Walters aka Avengers ally, but when the two do forces She-Hulk will need to address the fact that the former Avenger is a murderer. Jack of Hearts is a hero surrounded by tragedy and filled with a power that has the potential to be catastrophic for both himself and those around him. In one issue of the Avengers, fans got the chance to see the full extent of Jack of Hearts’ power, an event that turned the hero into a murderer. 

In Avengers #76 by Geoff Johns and Steve Sadowski, Jack of Hearts comes to the realization that he is too dangerous to be an active member of the Avengers. Jack of Hearts is a human nuclear reactor who needs specific treatment in order to keep himself from exploding. Jack of Hearts is able to release his power little bits at a time which makes him one of the most powerful of the Avengers. However, his control over this destructive energy is waning in this issue and he comes to the conclusion that he is too tired to continue being a member of the Avengers, and too tired to continue fighting for his life.

When a child murderer kidnapps Ant-Man’s daughter, Jack of Hearts springs into action to save her. After stopping the murderer, Jack of Hearts decides he is finished trying to contain the vast amounts of power inside him and chooses to release it all at once. Jack flies the child murderer into the atmosphere and explodes, killing the villain and himself instantly. While the act is immediately regarded as heroic by Ant-Man, Jack of Hearts still took it upon himself to kill a criminal rather than bringing him to justice, and She-Hulk will have to address that issue when she sees him.

While Jack of Hearts is about to be featured in She-Hulk’s latest comic series, this storyline will not be the first time they have met. In fact, Jack of Hearts is one of the few Avengers who has successfully defeated She-Hulk, as well as the Hulk, in a fight. In Avengers #75, the Avengers are trying to apprehend She-Hulk after she loses control of her powers and goes on a destructive rampage. To make matters worse, the Hulk shows up and adds to the chaos of the situation. When the Avengers are unsuccessful in capturing She-Hulk, Jack of Hearts appears and shoots off a powerful blast that knocks her, and her cousin, out cold. 

Jennifer Walters is famously known for being the superhero She-Hulk, but she is first and foremost a lawyer who cares deeply about the law and the justice system. When Jack of Hearts killed that child murderer, he took the law into his own hands, an act by which She-Hulk cannot abide. However, if She-Hulk does confront Jack of Hearts about the murder he committed, she will have to do so carefully and calmly as he proved to have the power to defeat her in a fight. Regardless of the potential consequences, She-Hulk needs to address that her ally is a murderer.
