Jack of Hearts arrives in the nick of time as the only hero capable of saving New York in She-Hulk #15 by Rainbow Rowell, Andres Genolet, Dee Cunniffe, and Joe Caramagna. Jack of Hearts uses his powers to absorb every ounce of nuclear radiation that the bomb has to offer. It's so much energy that he's "completely full," meaning that he can't absorb any more energy for at least a moment. He uses the opportunity to do something he never tried before in this state: touch someone. Specifically, he and She-Hulk share their first kiss since he got his powers back.

Jack of Hearts and She-Hulk Can Finally Kiss

Dating back to his initial introduction in the 1970s, Jack of Hearts has always posed a danger to anyone he touches. If he even tries, he runs a risk of draining them dry. This is especially a problem in his relationship with She-Hulk due to her gamma radiation, which has only further complicated their romance. Indeed, during their time together on the Avengers, Jack of Hearts pushed She-Hulk into a gamma-induced rage by accidentally siphoning off her radiation. When introduced in this series, Jack was without powers, allowing the couple to touch without barriers. However, ever since his powers returned, the two have been noticeably distanced from each other, both physically and emotionally.

Jack of Hearts' Discovery Opens the Door to New Beginnings

With this new discovery, Jack has finally found a way to touch people. Granted, it's temporary and demands that he absorb incredible amounts of radiation at once, but it unlocks a new power level which actually improves his civilian life. Having consumed so much energy at once, one can say that Jack achieves his highest power level yet whilst simultaneously finding a way to overcome his biggest personal obstacle.

On top of his kiss with his girlfriend making for a sweet moment, it expands the wider lore of Jack of Hearts. It opens the door for future storylines, not just for Jack in general, but for the Sensational She-Hulk series, in which Jack has already been confirmed to return as a ing player. Now that Jack knows he can touch people without consequence when he is at his most powerful, that could transform him as a hero. Jack has long resented his powers and the limits they put on his life, but now he's finally found a way to achieve some level of freedom. Hopefully, that bodes well for the former Avengers She-Hulk and Jack of Hearts continuing their fan-favorite relationship.
