The newly confirmed MCU show from Shang-Chi And The Legend Of The Ten Rings director will most likely revolve around the Ten Rings criminal organization and could give Iron Fist the Marvel Studios treatment the character deserves. Destin Daniel Cretton, the director of Shang-Chi, has signed on to direct a Diseny+ MCU show along with the Shang-Chi sequel. Details around the show remain scarce, but the show is rumored to center around the Ten Rings under Xialing's command, which was teased during the post-credits scene of The Legend Of The Ten Rings.
Ever since the release of Netflix's worst show among the Netflix Defenders properties. Ever since the show's cancellation in October 2018, fans have been eagerly waiting for Iron Fist's reintroduction in one of the MCU's Phase 4 projects, and Danny Rand's MCU debut will likely happen in Cretton's MCU Disney+ Show.
A perennially popular character, Iron Fist is long overdue a proper MCU introduction, an event that is bound to happen now that Charlie Cox is confirmed to reprise his role as Daredevil in the main MCU. If the Cretton-directed series is indeed going to follow the activities of the Ten Rings, it could prove to be the perfect opportunity to fold the character of Iron Fist organically into the MCU. This is due to the Ten Rings being intertwined with Fin Fang Foom in the comics, who in turn goes hand in hand with Iron Fist.
In the comics, the Ten Rings are of Makkluan origin, a shape-shifting alien race that crash-landed on earth many millennia ago, with the Mandarin recovering the rings from the alien crash site. Fin Fang Foom is the most popular Makkluan character and has attempted to retrieve the rings from the Mandarin on multiple occasions. Fin Fang Foom was rumored to appear in the MCU for the first time in Shang-Chi, but was cut in order to avoid complicating the family-centered plot.
Instead of Marvel Studios adapting Fin Fang Foom's origin exactly, they could merge his character with that of Shou-Lao. Shou-Lao is the Dragon guarding K'un-L'un, the mystical city where Danny Rand was raised and trained, which Danny had to defeat to prove his worthiness of the Iron Fist. The Foom-Lao hybrid could retain the Makkluan origin, and could attack the Ten Rings compound during the course of the show in an attempt to steal the rings, with Iron Fist ing forces with the organization to fend off said attack.
The timeline of the show's release is still unknown, but details regarding the untitled Ten Rings show should begin to surface in the near future, and could possibly confirm Foom's Involvement. Introducing Iron Fist in the Ten Rings show prior to him ing the Avengers or receiving his own project could help clear the confusion regarding the reboot of the Netflix MCU characters. Whether the Shang-Chi And The Legend Of The Ten Rings director opts to include Iron Fists in his show or not, the martial artist is definitely in Marvel Studios' plans; when he's introduced, and how he's introduced, remains to be seen.
