The characters on HBO's hit series Sex and the City were known for their wide variety of colorful opinions on love, sex, and friendship. Each of the show's four leading ladies represented a different perspective on modern dating in New York City, while also discussing topics of motherhood, aging, and sexism.
Along for their dating debacles were their ionate boyfriends, their steadfast husbands, their self-indulgent lovers, and their gallery of wise-talking friends. Find out which character from Sex and the City you are, based on your Zodiac Sign.
ARIES - Samantha Jones
Fearless fashionista Samantha Jones had an adventurous perspective on life, living it the fullest and without shame. Of her three best friends, she was the most opinionated and sexually liberated, enjoyed frequent romantic tristes with some of New York City's most eligible bachelors.
When she confessed to her friends that she was a "trysexual" (basically, she'll try anything once), she truly embodied the Aries spirit of being pioneering and dynamic. Her search for the next thrill often made her impetuous, as well as selfish with romantic partners who wanted more stability.
TAURUS - Trey MacDougal
Charlotte York's first husband from a whirlwind courtship that lasted only one month, Trey MacDougal seemed like the perfect catch. He was a chiropractor with a successful practice, and he came from a wealthy family of Scots with a fine lineage, and he was a perfect gentleman.
Like a true Taurus, Trey was steadfast and reliable, and could be incredibly warm towards Charlotte. However, his exasperation over her expectations in their marriage (especially in regards to his impotency and their inability to have a baby) led to his dark side of resentment.
GEMINI - Steve Brady
A humble and hardworking bartender that became Miranda Hobbes's boyfriend and then husband, Steve Brady worked diligently to never let his insecurity around Miranda's high powered job as a successful lawyer get in the way of their relationship.
Fun-loving and playful, Steve's youthful Gemini qualities contrasted to Miranda's practical sensibilities, and it encouraged her to be more spontaneous. Steve's occasional self-doubt caused fissures in their relationship, but his communicative side allowed them to always discuss their problems.
CANCER - Smith Jerrod
The hunky sensation who went from being a bartender in New York City to a Hollywood heartthrob overnight, Smith Jerrod was also one of Samantha Jones' most loving boyfriends. He stuck by her through her demanding mood swings as well as her breast cancer battle.
Like most Cancers, Smith Jerrod could be incredibly loving and emotional, as well as overly protective. Samantha saw him as clingy and overly touchy, but he ended up being a partner who was willing to go through hell and back to remain by her side.
LEO - Mr. Big
Hunky tycoon and one of New York City's most eligible bachelors, Mr. Big was known as Carrie Bradshaw's emotionally aloof lover who couldn't decide if he wanted to be in a committed relationship with her, or only her when he wanted a ionate affair.
Like a true Leo, Big was known for his big personality, which included being fun-loving as well as profoundly generous with his money (he once thought nothing of lending Carrie $30,000). At his worst, he could be patronizing, selfish, and stubborn to the point of pigheadedness.
VIRGO - Standford Blatch
One of Carrie's best friends out of her three girlfriends, Stanford Blatch was known for being meticulous and shy, which often made his love life as a gay man difficult in New York City, home to some of the most extravagant and self-serving in the scene.
Putting practicality and pragmatism over any desire to be carefree, he often fussed and worried too much to take chances in life. He once proposed to Carrie so that he didn't risk receiving his bigoted family's inheritance, craving stability over living as his true self.
LIBRA - Aidan Shaw
Besides Mr. Big, Aidan Shaw was Carrie Bradshaw's other long term boyfriend, and quite a contrast. He made his own furniture by hand, and preferred a quiet getaway in the country to having Manhattans in Manhattan.
With his easy-going vibe and laconic charm, Aidan was a true Libra, especially when it came to overlooking Carrie's neurotic and flighty personality traits. Unfortunately he could also be gullible and naive, thinking their relationship was going fine when it was barely functioning.
SCORPIO - Richard Wright
A hotel magnate and a lady's man, Richard Wright was known for his take-no-prisoners resolve when it came to business and pleasure. He sought to conquer Samantha Jones and became one of her longest relationship besides Smith Jerrod.
A powerful and ionate Lothario as well as a Scorpio, Richard's magnetism won Samantha over initially. However, his stubborn streak combined with his secretive nature contributed to him keeping affairs hidden from Samantha, which ultimately ended their relationship.
SAGITTARIUS - Harry Goldenblatt
For a divorce lawyer, Henry Goldenblatt was one of the most optimistic and jovial of his profession. He might have been known as a shark when he helped Charlotte York get a great settlement from her first husband, but he was a teddy bear when it came to being her next husband.
As blindly optimistic as Harry could be, like all Sagittariuses he was straightforward and honest. He knew when people weren't shooting straight with him, and when Charlotte finally itted she felt he wasn't her equal in appearance, he was tactless with his anger.
CAPRICORN - Miranda Hobbes
The most prudent and practical of her friends, Miranda Hobbes never held back when it came to giving her opinion. As a highly successful lawyer with an apartment on the Upper West Side, she felt men were unnecessary distractions only good for sex.
As self-sufficient and disciplined as any Capricorn, Miranda had to be careful to not also be too pessimistic. She didn't always understand the benefit of frivolously discussing boy problems, but she learned to be there for her friends.
