One Severance character's arc barely progressed in seasons 1 and 2, but I hope season 3 will finally give them a better story. After leading up to one of the best finales in television history, Severance season 1 promised to expand its sci-fi vision and the stakes for its main characters with another installment. Although it took a while for Severance season 2 to finally land on Apple TV+, the show delivered everything it had promised. With its mind-boggling innie/outie transitions and many compelling plot twists and turns, Severance season 2 never left a dull moment.

Owing to this, it is hard to complain or be critical about almost anything in the season 3. The character in question seems to have immense narrative potential, but their story has barely progressed since season 1. In my eyes, Severance is already among the most immersive and enthralling sci-fi shows I've watched, but I would love to see how much better it could become if it fixes one character issue.

Reghabi's Story Felt Unresolved & Rushed In Severance Season 2

She Has Had No Real Development In The Series So Far

Karen Aldridge's Asal Reghabi in Severance comes off as a plot convenience in season 1 when she suddenly emerges out of nowhere as Pete's and tries to convince Mark to go through reintegration. From here, her story could have gone in myriad intriguing directions. Unfortunately, her season 2 arc progresses at a snail's pace. She puts Mark through multiple experiments, but the reintegration process barely seems to work.

The air of ambiguity surrounding Reghabi's characterization seems to suggest that Severance is setting her up as a potential antagonist in future seasons.

Her conversations with Mark hint that she knows a lot more about Lumon and its inner workings than she is letting on. Yet, instead of coming clean about everything she knows, she keeps dropping cryptic details about the company's immoral activities and Gemma's fate. Reghabi's past is also shrouded in mystery. The series has revealed that she was a surgeon for Lumon and had implanted Mark's chip. However, beyond that, nothing about her motives or Lumon history seems to be known.

The finale of Severance season 2 saw monumental changes for Mark and his peers, and these developments will undoubtedly lead into Severance season 3.

The air of ambiguity surrounding Reghabi's characterization seems to suggest that Severance is setting her up as a potential antagonist in future seasons. At the same time, though, it is hard to foresee where her story is heading because she is the only main character whose arc remains almost isolated from the central roster. Her characterization feels even more unresolved and rushed when she suddenly decides to flee when Devon s Ms. Cobel.

Severance Season 3 Must Explain The Real Reason Behind Reghabi's Unpredictable Behavior

It Must Explore What Reghabi Really Knows About Lumon

Reghabi's story has reached a point in the Apple TV+ series where the show just cannot keep sidelining her as a convenient plot device anymore. The series needs to move the needle for her narrative and finally explore what she knows about Lumon. More than that, Severance also needs to reveal whether Reghabi has good intentions in her mind. From the looks of it, she caused more harm than good in season 2 by putting Mark through grueling reintegration experiments that seemingly failed.

Maybe Severance season 3 could even dedicate an entire episode to exploring her history with Lumon just like season 2 did with Cobel. This would allow the series to finally rectify all the mistakes it has made so far with Reghabi's arc. As a viewer, I am still very much invested in Reghabi's overarching story and its potential ties with other Severance characters' arcs. However, as things progress, I would love to see the show reach its full potential by giving a character like her the narrative depth and clarity she deserves.
