Ghostface from the Scream franchise is a unique horror movie killer as new characters take on the persona with every Ghostface kill count differing. The reveal of who is behind the Ghostface mask is a big moment in every Scream movie, and it often turns out that there is more than one killer. That makes it fun to determine every Ghostface kill count separately and see which of the killers was the deadliest of all.

There are six films in the Scream franchise so far with but 13 Ghostface killers altogether. Aside from Scream 3, each entry had two killers that worked together to terrorize Sidney and murder everyone around her. As such, it can be messy trying to figure out who kills who in each film. By looking at the framing of scenes, their sequential order, and some clever filmmaking choices, it is possible to give a somewhat accurate count of each killer’s victims. This will be a ranking of each Ghostface killer based solely on their kill count, not the quality of their character or motivation.

13 Jason Carver - Scream VI (1 Kill)

Tony Revolori as Jason on the phone in Scream 6

Scream 6's clever opening sequence left no mistake about who the Ghostface was for this first kill. After film professor Laura Crane is murdered in an alley by Ghostface, the killer shocks the audience by removing his mask and revealing that it is Jason Carver, a character audiences are just being introduced to. It is an inventive way to play against the expectations of the franchise. The early reveal of the killer also doesn't interfere with the rest of the mystery as Jason soon s the victims list himself after raking up his first and only kill.

12 Quinn Bailey - Scream VI (1 Kill)

Liana Liberato as Quinn looking scared in Scream 6

Out of the three main killers revealed in Scream 6, Quinn is seemingly the least lethal of them all. The only kill that she is confirmed for is Gale Weathers' boyfriend Brooks which is revealed when she its to being the one who attacked and nearly killed Gale.

In fact, Quinn is particularly bad at following through on her kills as she also fails to finish off Mindy and Chad when she attacks them. It seems as though she was mostly meant to keep tabs on Sam as her roommate while also eliminating herself as a suspect by faking her death. Of course, any off-screen death in a Scream movie is immediately suspicious.

11 Mrs. Loomis - Scream 2 (1 Kill)

Billy's mother Mrs. Loomis holding up a gun angrily in Scream 2

The character of Debbie Salt is revealed to be Mrs. Loomis, a.k.a Billy’s mother. Despite being the true mastermind behind the Windsor College Murders, Mrs. Loomis only gets one kill in the entire film. Her one and only victim is Randy, which Loomis its to Sidney in the final act. She isn't technically the one to kill Mickey since he rises up one last time before Gale and Sidney blow him away. If anything, Mrs. Loomis got the assist.

It makes sense that Mrs. Loomis would only get one kill as she’s likely in her 40s or 50s, and wouldn’t have the strength or endurance to do most of the kills. It’s safe to assume that she’s the one who does most of the phone calls, allowing Mickey to do all the heavy lifting.

10 Ethan Landry - Scream VI (2 Kills)

Jack Champion as Ethan Landry looking concerned at a crime scene in Scream 6

As something of the outcast of the group of friends in Scream 6, Ethan becomes an early suspect for many of the characters. Though Ethan has an alibi for some of the murders and attacks, he is noticeably absent for the terrifying apartment attack sequence. Given that Ghostface is seen in Quinn's bedroom just before faking her death, it is likely that was Ethan who killed Quinn's boyfriend. He then attacks the rest of the group and eventually causes Anika to fall to her death in Scream 6's most brutal kill. The suspicion around Ethan's innocence is temporarily lifted when he witnesses Ghostface attack Mindy. But given that no one else is there to witness his innocence, it is odd the movie included this at all.

9 Ritchie Kirsch - Scream 2022 (2 Kills)

Richie Kirsch looking serious in Scream 2022

The killer twist in Scream 2022 is an effective one with Sam's seemingly sweet boyfriend Ritchie being revealed as the mastermind, even if he boasts a smaller amount of kills. The first kill of the movie can be attributed to Ritchie as Vince Schneider is killed outside a bar where he confronts Sam and her friends. Seeing as Amber, Ritchie's partner, was part of that group, it is likely Ritchie killed Vince. Ritchie also can also be assumed to be the second Ghostface at Wes Hicks' house as the stealthier way Wes is killed seems to match Ritchie's approach.

8 Stu Macher - Scream (2 Kills)

Stu holding up a gun and grinning in Scream

Stu Macher is the second killer of the original Scream and he’s more of Billy’s unhinged yet still reliable lackey. He surely wasn’t the brains of the operation. Stu only gets two kills throughout the first film; Steve and Kenny. A cool trick that director Wes Craven does is that both Billy and Stu hold their knife differently. Stu holds the knife with two hands while Billy only uses one.

In Scream's infamous opening scene, the most logical conclusion is that Stu killed Steve and Billy killed Casey. This is because Billy was most likely the one on the phone with Casey during Steve's murder. Kenny’s killer is easy to figure out as Stu was in the Ghostface costume due to Billy having to be upstairs playing dead.

7 Charlie Walker - Scream 4 (3 Kills)

Rory Culkin in Scream 4

Charlie Walker wasn’t the most welcoming new character in Scream 4. He was an obvious stand-in for the new Randy but had none of the charisma or charm. His motivation is also very stupid. He was just in love with Jill and went along with her plan.

As for his victims, Charlie kills three people. The first one is actually either Jenny or Marnie in the beginning. It’s a toss-up but you’re led to believe both Jill and Charlie worked together. The next two are Olivia and Robbie, given that Jill had to be out of costume to maintain her cover during these scenes. Notably, many fans would have previously awarded Charlie a fourth kill but Scream 6 reveals Kirby survived her attack.

6 Amber - Scream 2022 (4 Kills)

Amber smiles at a bar in Scream (2022).

Amber cements herself as one of the most vicious killers in the Scream franchise and one that has a particular bloodlust. This makes it likely Amber is responsible for the killing of Sheriff Hicks who is stabbed several times in broad daylight. At the hospital, since Ritchie is clearly there with the others, Amber is the one who killed the cop meant to be protecting Tara. She also does something no other Ghostface has done when she successfully kills original Scream hero Dewey. Amber gets one more kill when she reveals herself as the killer in shocking fashion by shooting Liv in the head.

5 Billy Loomis - Scream (4 Kills)

Billy Loomis is still the best Ghostface, but his kill count puts him directly in the middle. Billy is the one who kicked off the Scream franchise by loving horror movies a little too much. Of the six victims in the film, Billy killed four; Maurine Prescott, Casey, Principal Himbry, and Tatum. It is debated whether Billy or Stu killed Principal Himbry but based on the knife-holding detail, it’s most likely Billy that does the deed.

4 Mickey Altieri - Scream 2 (7 Kills)

Mickey looking serious in Scream 2

Mickey is an interesting character in the franchise. His motivation is unique as it doesn’t have anything to do with Sidney. He’s just an insane serial killer who wants the fame of getting put on trial. With the exception of Randy's death in Scream 2, every murder in the first sequel is carried out by Mickey. You can tell most of the kills are by him based on the ingenuity and brutality of all the kills, even going as far as killing Phil and Maureen inside a crowded theater. He may have just been the secondary antagonist of the film, but he still racked up a high body count.
