Samsung's shoddy record with Exynos-powered flagships continues with the recently-launched Galaxy S22 series, as s continue complaining about issues affecting general performance, screen, camera output and battery, among others. However, the Galaxy S22 phones — and the Ultra variant, in particular — have received praise for offering top-notch hardware packed in an attractive chassis and a promise for long-term software .

But it appears that the in-house processors will continue to hobble Samsung flagships for another year, with the Exynos 2200 carrying the torch for the Galaxy S22 series this time around. Over a week ago, numerous s complained about GPS connectivity issues on their Galaxy S22 Ultra, with the problem mainly affecting the Exynos-powered variants of the stylus-toting phone. However, more diverse complaints appear to be pouring in from all directions.

s on Samsung's official Samsung recently drew some heat for throttling on its phones and updates but rolled out an update a few weeks ago to fix it. There are also forum posts documenting sub-par stabilization while recording Galaxy S22 series phone videos. In some cases, s tried putting less frequently used apps to sleep, but the battery struggles to last a full day of usage. The screen-on time (SOT) also appears to go past the five hours mark for some s. Now, screen-on time is a subjective test parameter, as using a phone for over five hours daily sounds alarming, but rival phones in the same price bracket, such as the iPhone 12 Pro Max, appear to deliver much better results on the same scale.

An Update Is Out, But A Lot Remains Unfixed

Affected s have also vented out their Galaxy S22 frustrations on glitching pixels appearing briefly on the screen. However, it is unclear if that has to do with hardware-level defects on a few units or if software bugs need to be blamed. But the screen appears to malfunction when watching videos, playing games and even on the lock screen.

So far, Samsung hasn't released an official statement regarding the issues, especially the screen glitches and overheating. But the company began rolling out an update a few days ago for Galaxy S22 series phones in Europe, the market where Exynos variants are sold. The update also brings the April security patch, but the changelog only offers a vague stability improvements explanation. Some s have shared that the battery life woes have been resolved to an extent after installing the update, but it is unclear if the screen and performance issues have also been addressed.
