Since his very first Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Sam Wilson has been shown as an easy person to get along with, and has developed many friendships with his fellow heroes.

Whether he's fighting alongside someone in battle or providing for people in his day to day life, Sam has proved how deeply caring he is, and it's this tenet of his personality that motivates him as both the Falcon and Captain America, whilst also having an effect on his friendships and their longevity.

Clint Barton

Although Sam and Clint Barton have not shared too much screen time together, their friendship was established during the party scene in Avengers: Age Of Ultron, where the pair can be seen laughing together.

Later on, they also both end up fighting on Steve's side in Captain America: Civil War, showing a shared sense of duty to both the Captain and his cause. In the ensuing fight between Steve and Tony's teams at the airport, Clint helps Sam escape from Iron Man's pursuit, proving they can also work well together in battle.

Sharon Carter

Despite Sharon Carter's turn to villainy in MCU heroes who could turn into villains, she remains a friend to Sam, who is unaware of her identity as the Power Broker.

From the pair's first meeting in Captain America: The Winter Soldier, they've worked alongside one another many times, with Sharon even stealing back Sam's wings from the government for him during the events of Civil War. Sam's deep trust in Sharon led to him gaining a pardon from the government for her, but given that she now works against him it remains to be seen how long their friendship will last.

Riley

Sam and Riley do not have an onscreen friendship in the MCU, but their friendship remains an important part of Sam's story.

When Steve and Natasha first meet Sam, he tells them of his time in the military and his training in the Falcon project, alongside his best friend Riley, who was later killed during a mission. This friendship not only provides important backstory for Sam's character, but it also shows why he left behind his military life, and the belief he has in Steve's mission to once again don the Falcon wings.

Scott Lang

Arguably one of the Ant-Man movie.

Visiting the Avengers compound because he needs to retrieve some tech, Scott is intercepted by Sam in a comical and dynamic fight scene that shows off both characters' abilities. Despite this rocky start, though, they later become friends, as Sam recommends Scott to Steve in Civil War, where Sam continues their banter in his new nickname for Scott, 'Tic-Tac'.

Natasha Romanoff

Some of Black Widow's best team-ups in the MCU have come about because of necessity, and in The Winter Soldier, she and Steve found the crucial aid they needed to take on S.H.I.E.L.D. in Sam.

Since that first meeting, Sam and Natasha have worked together on multiple Avengers missions, but notably, the pair worked with Steve again in Avengers: Infinity War to help take down allies of Thanos who ambushed Wanda and Vision. The sequence showed not only Natasha and Sam's compatibility in battle, but the enduring friendship the two share, with each other and collectively with Steve.

Joaquín Torres

A newer friend to Sam, Joaquín Torres made his first appearance in the MCU in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier as a First lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force.

Joaquín is a huge fan of Sam's and delights in working alongside him in the series, helping to investigate the Flag Smashers, through which he shows himself to be an extremely capable and motivated investigator, whilst also remaining approachable and personable. These traits are among those that led Sam to on his Falcon suit to Joaquín when he himself took on the Captain America mantle, illustrating the trust between them.

James "Rhodey" Rhodes

Rhodey and Sam have a complex history, which first began during the events of Civil War, when during a fight Sam maneuvered to dodge an attack from Vision which ended up hitting Rhodey instead.

The ramifications of the hit were huge, and Rhodey's legs became paralyzed. Though it wasn't his fault, Sam felt deeply responsible for the injury, moving to help Rhodey even in the midst of their battle. In later years, the two developed a friendship, as shown in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier in a touching scene where the pair talked about Captain America's legacy.

Sarah Wilson

Of great importance to Sam's life is his family, including his sister Sarah Wilson who plays an important role in answering questions about Sam's history in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.

Running their family's seafood restaurant and raising her two young sons, Sarah's life was greatly impacted by the Blip that took her brother from her, and after their reunion, the two have a hard time seeing eye to eye about their family legacy. Nevertheless, it's clear through their conversations that the siblings are very close, and they later find a way to honor their family and honestly talk to each other.

Bucky Barnes

Amongst the best scenes from The Falcon and the Winter Soldier are those that see the show's titular heroes together, whether they're taking on villains or confronting one another.

Sam and Bucky have a detailed history, from their deadly meeting in The Winter Soldier to fighting as a team in Civil War, brought together by their shared connection to Steve, but the pair have moved beyond their origins and become an iconic duo in their own right. From earnestly learning to appreciate one another to hilarious conversations, the pair's dynamic has become a major fixture in the MCU.

Steve Rogers

The friendship that first pulled him into the world of super-heroism, Sam's connection to Steve Rogers was one built on mutual iration and loyalty.

Sam's connection to Steve existed both in the world of heroes, as the two often fought so well alongside each other as Falcon and Captain America, and also in their civilian lives, where they had an understanding of one another which started because of their shared history with the military. Their respect for one another was high, shown not only by Steve giving Sam his shield, but in the consideration Sam then gave to the Captain America title.
