In 2024, Adult Swim’s Rick and Morty order was extended to include seasons 11 and 12. So, it’s fair to say that Rick and Morty will be around for a while. For now, it’s in its eighth season, and all the iconic voice actors are back.

Ian Cardoni As Rick Sanchez

Active Since: 2008

Actor: Ian Cardoni was born in Boston, Massachusetts, and scored his breakout role when he was cast in Rick and Morty for its seventh season. Cardoni previously played minor roles like a water park guest in Grown Ups and a barista in Larry David’s HBO comedy movie Clear History. Since landing his voice role in Rick and Morty, he’s also voiced the Riddler in the video game DC: Dark Legion.

Character: Cardoni plays the titular mad scientist Rick Sanchez in Rick and Morty season 8. Until season 6, the role was played by series co-creator Justin Roiland, but Roiland was fired from Rick and Morty after some disturbing allegations were brought against him. In season 7, Cardoni was brought in to replace Roiland as a soundalike for Rick.

Harry Belden As Morty Smith / Evil Morty

Actor: Harry Belden was born in Chicago, Illinois, and got his big break when he ed the cast of Rick and Morty in 2023. Belden is a relative newcomer to show business, so he doesn’t have many major roles under his belt yet. His previous television roles include Marco in Proven Innocent, Kyle Henderson in Chicago Med, and Will in the made-for-TV movie Christmas...Again?!

Character: Belden plays the other title character, Morty Smith, in Rick and Morty season 8. Morty is another character that was played by Roiland before he was fired. Like Cardoni, Belden was brought in as a soundalike to replace him. Cardoni and Belden’s impressions of Rick and Morty are so spot-on that it was a seamless transition after Roiland’s exit.

Spencer Grammer As Summer Smith

Date Of Birth: October 9, 1983

Active Since: 1992

Actor: Spencer Grammer, the daughter of Frasier star Kelsey Grammer, was born in Los Angeles, California, and she first broke out with the lead role of Casey Cartwright in the ABC Family series Greek. Grammer made her first on-screen appearance as a child when she had an uncredited cameo alongside her dad in an episode of Cheers. She’s since played Lynette in Solar Opposites, Jenn Cassidy in Chicago P.D., and Holly in a short-lived revival of Ironside.

Character: Grammer reprises her role as Summer, Rick’s granddaughter and Morty’s older sister, in Rick and Morty season 8. Grammer has been playing the part since the show’s first season. Summer didn’t have a huge role in Rick and Morty’s early days, but the more recent seasons have given her more of a spotlight — Summer is a major part of the season 8 premiere.

Sarah Chalke As Beth Smith / Space Beth

Actor: Sarah Chalke was born in Ottawa, Ontario, and got her big break when she was cast as the second Becky Conner in the hit sitcom Roseanne. She later played Elliot Reid in the medical comedy Scrubs, Kate Mularkey in the Netflix drama Firefly Lane, and the recurring role of Ted Mosby’s one-time fiancée Stella Zinman in How I Met Your Mother. Her other voice roles include Gina Jabowski in Paradise P.D. and Stella in Dogs in Space.

Character: In Rick and Morty season 8, Chalke reprises her role as Beth, Rick’s daughter and Morty and Summer’s mother. Like Grammer, Chalke has been with the show since season 1. She also plays Beth’s clone, dubbed “Space Beth,” who occasionally s the family for adventures in between her own intergalactic exploits.

Chris Parnell As Jerry Smith

Date Of Birth: February 5, 1967

Active Since: 1988

Actor: Chris Parnell was born in Memphis, Tennessee, and first became known as a cast member on Saturday Night Live from 1998 to 2006. Since leaving SNL, Parnell has been a staple of sitcoms. He played Dr. Leo Spaceman in 30 Rock, Cyril Figgis in Archer, and Stewie’s rival Doug in Family Guy. In commercials, Parnell is known for playing “America’s Dad” for Orbit Gum, “The Progressive Box” for the Progressive Corporation, and the Hamburger Helper mascot “Lefty.”

Character: Parnell reprises his role as Jerry Smith, Beth’s husband and Morty and Summer’s dad, in Rick and Morty season 8. Parnell has been playing Jerry since the beginning of the series’ run. Jerry is the show’s punching bag; he’s the butt of everyone’s jokes, and he’s often on the receiving end of misfortune and humiliation.

Tom Kenny as Squanchy, Gene Gilligan, and more: Tom Kenny plays a bunch of different roles in Rick and Morty, most notably Rick’s furry friend Squanchy and the Smiths’ neighbor Gene. Kenny is one of the most prolific voice actors in Hollywood. He’s best known as the voice of SpongeBob SquarePants, but he’s also played Heffer Wolfe in Rocko’s Modern Life, the Ice King in Adventure Time, and the Narrator and Mayor in The Powerpuff Girls.

Kari Wahlgren as Jessica, Diane, and more: Like Kenny, Kari Wahlgren has a versatile voice-acting talent that’s utilized for a handful of characters in Rick and Morty, including Morty’s crush Jessica and Rick’s late wife Diane. Wahlgren is just as prolific as Kenny. She’s voiced Ashe in Final Fantasy XII, Mileena in the Mortal Kombat games, and Baby Scrat in the Disney+ miniseries Ice Age: Scrat Tales.

Dan Harmon as Birdperson: Rick and Morty co-creator Dan Harmon provides the deadpan voice of Rick’s best friend Birdperson (who was also briefly reincarnated as Phoenixperson). Harmon is best known for his work behind the camera, as creator of Community and co-writer of the movie Monster House. But he’s had a few other minor acting roles; he played a yurt clerk in Arrested Development and Cartwright in Seven Stages to Achieve Eternal Bliss, and he hosted the podcast Harmontown.

Jon Allen as Mr. Poopybutthole: Rick and Morty’s recurring character Mr. Poopybutthole is voiced by Jon Allen. Allen also voiced Alessi in JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure and Nigrissi in Dragon Ball Super. In the video game Genshin Impact, he plays Ogawa, Yuusaku, and Kamuna Harunosuke.
