The latest social media trending event for Warner Bros. to greenlight the unproduced sequels to the showcase that is DC FanDome, an online streaming event for the various DC films and TV shows. DC FanDome continued to be a major Comic-Con-esque event, showcasing teasers and behind-the-scenes footage for everything DC has coming up on cinema and television screens alike.
While that was going on, fans of Zack Snyder's DC movies also took to Twitter once more with the #RestoreTheSnyderVerse hashtag, which trended high enough for multiple media outlets to take notice. This was far from the first time the fanbase that got Snyder's version of Justice League released with the #ReleaseTheSnyderCut hashtag have shown a ionate desire for Snyder's DC movie arc to be finished up. Related projects like David Ayer's unreleased original cut of Ben Affleck's unrealized Batman solo film have also garnered considerable interest in being given a second life.
What the SnyderVerse trending event during DC FanDome shows is that, despite Warner Bros. declaring that no such greenlight was coming on the heels of the Snyder Cut's release, the ionate interest among many fans is not dying out. This reflects the Snyder Cut push itself, which had to overcome debates about its existence over the course of two and a half years before finally being announced on May 20, 2020. A similar drive by Snyder's fanbase for the rest of what he originally planned isn't necessarily surprising, but for the SnyderVerse campaign to trend during the biggest day for all things DC is certainly enough to raise eyebrows.
Of course, DC's film slate isn't lacking for anticipation itself. Matt Reeves' Snyder himself even publicly commending Reeves for the trailer on social media. At the same time, the SnyderVerse trend during FanDome makes clear that the whiteboard outline Snyder had for Justice League 2 and Justice League 3 is also far from being forgotten.
Even WarnerMedia itself has now publicly called the Snyder Cut a "global phenomenon," and the path the film took to finally be released is one for the history books. The climate for the SnyderVerse is also a totally different one than what was the case for the Snyder Cut with the latter now being on streaming platforms and in retail outlets worldwide. Now that the first Justice League movie has told its story, and there's a basic blueprint of the next two, there's little, if any, chance of that genie going back in the bottle, which the trend during DC FanDome demonstrated.
To be clear, Snyder is currently occupied with multiple Netflix projects, including his next film as much as the Snyder Cut was.
