Resident Evil VIII: Village will star Ethan from Resident Evil 7: Biohazard. Ethan starts the story living in peace with his wife, but a visit from Chris Redfield throws his life into chaos. The trailer for the game is now available on the official PlayStation YouTube channel. Like Resident Evil 7, the game takes place from a first-person perspective, which means that it's likely to PSVR. The player appears to fight both human opponents and monsters, though we were only given a close look at an inhuman enemy towards the end of the trailer. There are enemies spotted throughout the trailer and they seem to be similar to yetis, which could fit with the cold climate of the setting.

Based on the footage revealed so far, it seems that Resident Evil VIII is combining the more personal first-person horror of Resident Evil 7 with the secluded and mysterious setting of Resident Evil 4. Resident Evil 7 was praised for its gameplay and storytelling, even though it was a major shift from the other titles in the series. A similar title that adds elements from the incredible Resident Evil 4 could easily create one of the best games in the series.

There have been a number of most impressive games shown during the PlayStation 5 event, and we can't wait to return to the world of survival horror on next-gen systems in the future.
