The current cinematic landscape is full of shared universes and crossover movies. Even if there are some great standalone films, fans still try to conjure up wild theories that combine them with other movies, whether it's Us. And even when there aren't any theories, fans want to see a crossover happen.
Redditors have jumped at the chance of plotting their ideal crossovers, and they span from being hilariously ridiculous to surprisingly ingenious. Between combining musical comedies to create one sprawling musical epic and two iconic neo-noir protagonists locking horns, these crossovers are unlikely to happen, but a Redditor can dream.
Blade And Underworld
Selene would beat Resident Evil's Alice in a fight, but how she'd hold her own against the iconic Marvel vampire hunter is another question entirely. Given Blade's profession and that Selene is a vampire, it could make for one of the most exciting blockbuster face-offs (not to mention that it'd be interesting to see where the character stands in the war between vampires and Lycans).
Underworld crossover at Comic-Con years ago, and, according to Variety, she still wants to see it happen. Unfortunately, as Marvel Studios is planning to induct Blade into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, there's no chance it'll ever happen.
Batman And James Bond
Fans who only know the definitive version of the superhero.
It's also why Wrym thinks Batman and James Bond would make a great crossover movie. The world's greatest detective going up against one of the most iconic movie spies could make for such an exciting cat-and-mouse thriller. The Redditor also posits that the movie could deal "with Alfred's MI6 heirs," as the butler is a former secret service agent in the comic books, and that has yet to be depicted in any movie.
Inception And A Nightmare On Elm Street
A crossover between Nightmare on Elm Street is one of the most obvious ideas for crossover, but that doesn't make it any less fun. Both movies are full of action sequences and horrific events that take place in people's dreams but still affect real life, so there's already a ton of groundwork to build on.
Rick and Morty in the episode "Lawnmower Dog."
The Pirates Of The Caribbean And The Goonies
Even though the The Goonies, that could very well be possible. A deleted thinks that the Pirates franchise should feature "one-eyed Willie from The Goonies."
As The Goonies ends with the Inferno sailing away with the skeleton of Willie inside it, the ship's future is left open-ended. As Willie is a skeleton, it could also tie in nicely with the premise of The Curse of the Black Pearl. Not only that, but The Goonies is a dated '80s comedy that should be updated, and a crossover is the best way to do it.
School Of Rock And This Is Spinal Tap
School of Rock meets Spinal Tap in a battle of the bands," and it'd be one of the most ludicrous musicals ever. It would have to be some kind of reboot of Spinal Tap, as it's set in the '80s, and School of Rock is set in the 2000s.
However, there might be a way to incorporate the original versions through time travel. The Redditor continues by explaining that in this Battle of the Bands, "both lose to Bill and Ted." The Wild Stallions had the power to time travel in a magical phone booth in Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure, so in this ridiculous but epic-sounding musical, anything can happen. Tenacious D and the Pick of Destiny may as well be thrown in for good measure.
Aliens And Cowboys & Alien
isn't as bad as people say, there's a deleted who thinks it could be greatly improved with one major change.
The Redditor wants to see "Cowboys & Aliens except with Xenomorphs." The movie would essentially be Alien just in the wild west, which sounds absolutely incredible. However, it'd be less of a family-friendly blockbuster popcorn flick and more of a terrifying horror movie, so while it'd be more entertaining, it'd probably perform even worse at the worldwide box office.
Drive And Nightcrawler
Nightcrawler are two of the best neo-noir movies released in the 21st century, as they both follow two wild-cards with a need for speed and who are prone to violence. Though it's fairly pointless and rarely makes sense to crossover two movies that are extremely similar, Squeezecake has a great elevator pitch for the movie.
The Redditor thinks the crossover could see "Lou running into the Driver during a heist, and begins stalking him for the news coverage? Sounds pretty badass." The idea perfectly combines the two already inventive premises of the original movies, and it'd be absolutely explosive when the two hotheads inevitably come head to head.
The Big Lebowski And Pineapple Express
Like with Drive and Nightcrawler, Pineapple Express feature characters with very similar characteristics. Both movies are about stoners who act overly cavalier about the deadly situations they find themselves in. Despite the similarities, BlackSheep0194 would still "kill to see Big Lebowski meets Pineapple Express."
For as great as the two movies are individually, a crossover would almost feel like that one scene in Shaun of the Dead, where all the characters meet the doppelgängers, only stretched out for two whole hours. However, though the two movies might be too similar to crossover, fans would still love to see sequels to both of them.
The Fast And The Furious And 21 Jump Street
The Fast and Furious franchise has gotten so over the top that many people have forgotten that the original was simply and grounded crime drama about an undercover cop infiltrating a criminal street-racing gang. Valeyard89 thinks that instead of Brian O'Connor, Greg (Channing Tatum) and Schmidt (Jonah Hill) "go undercover to investigate the illegal street racing heist scene."
Literally dozens of sequels were teased in the mid-credits sequence of 22 Jump Street, but a street-racing heist movie wasn't one of them. However, the idea sounds hilarious, especially if Tatum and Hill share scenes with Vin Diesel typically taking his role of Dom Toretto so overly seriously. And in fairness, Fast and Furious characters like Tej and Rome would totally fit in the Jump Street universe.
Cars And The Terminator
Pixar is best known for its inventive storylines, and some of them are even known for being surprisingly dark for kids' movies, with the prime example being the toys accepting their fate at the end of The Terminator.
The Redditor posits that "seriously, those cars are programmed to run down people. How else do you think the world is filled with them? The machines based their design on car designs that humans came up with to kill us all." Ironically, it doesn't sound too left field from the usual premises of a Pixar movie, especially if fans subscribe to the mortifying and shockingly depressing Pixar theory.
