A new trailer for Red One follows Callum Drift (Johnson), head of North Pole security, who forcibly enlists the help of bounty hunter Jack O'Malley (Evans) to find Santa Claus (J.K. Simmons) after he was kidnapped by unknown forces. The movie follows the pair as they interact with other holiday-adjacent figures while they attempt to figure out who took the legendary Christmas figure.
Now, Amazon MGM Studios has released the second trailer for Red One, featuring an explanation about how tech used by Callum can aid in their search for Santa. The trailer begins with Jack getting ambushed by a team of soldiers led by Zoe (Lucy Liu), who later captures him and informs him he's being forced into teaming up with Callum to find the missing North Pole leader. The pair wind up going to a toy store that acts as a transit system, with the security leader using a device to turn a toy car into a real one.
The trailer also shows what appears to be multiple Halloween-associated creatures in captivity, including a flaming pumpkin and a flaming horse. A brief image of Kiernan Shipka's version of the Icelandic monster Gryla is shown, alongside more footage of Krampus (Kristofer Hivju). The trailer teases plenty of action as well, with the security forces fighting an army of people wearing white and Callum making two Rock 'em Sock 'em Robots become allies. What Red One's Newest Trailer Says About The Holiday Movie
The Film Is Poised To Be An Action-Heavy Adventure
Based on the latest trailer, it appears Santa's capture is more complex than anticipated, with Halloween imagery implying the involvement of the other holiday somehow. Shipka's brief appearance in the trailer could also hint that her character is responsible for kidnapping the North Pole's leader, although it's unclear for now what this says about his current situation. However, based on the new dangers teased, it seems the cast of Red One will have their work cut out for them as they try to save Christmas from an unknown threat.

The Rock’s New Movie Will Continue A Recent Christmas Movie Trend
The trailer for Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson's new movie just dropped, and it looks set to continue a surprising modern Christmas film trend.
The number of CGI-heavy action scenes already on display reflect the film's reported $250 million budget. However, this large budget report is also associated with an April 2024 report about Johnson, which indicated his lateness or outright absence during filming days led to the budget ballooning by $50 million. While Amazon MGM denied this claim, the massive budget means the film will need to perform incredibly well at the box office to see a return on investment. However, an engaging story could allow for a major turnout during the holiday season.
Our Take On Red One's Newest Trailer
An Exciting Holiday Adventure Is About To Unfold
While it's unclear if the movie's massive budget can break Johnson's cold streak at the box office, Red One is promising an action-heavy holiday rescue mission with more details than just a Christmas adventure. The inclusion of holidays like Halloween and Gryla means a much larger story is at play, something that will seemingly be further developed once the film actually comes out. Though its success is unclear, the movie's unique take on holiday films means it could succeed thanks to how much it stands out.
Red One is poised to launch a franchise surrounding holiday mythology, explaining the presence of Halloween imagery in the latest trailer.
