Red One was released on November 15, 2024, just in time for the Christmas season, but has failed to be a box office hit. The story of Red One follows Johnson's Callum Drift, who is head of security for the North Pole. In Red One, Callum must enlist the help of a bounty hunter after Santa is kidnapped from the North Pole.

Red One's box office performance has been very disappointing since it was supposed to be an action-adventure Christmas movie filled with stars. Clearly Red One's brutal reviews prevented people from going to see the film in theaters, which is a repeat of another one of Johnson's movies from seven years ago.

Baywatch is the lowest grossing movie featuring Johnson in a leading role in years, which is something the star surely doesn't want to repeat with Red One.

Even though 2017's Baywatch was based on an extremely popular television series, its negative reception caused it to bomb at the box office. Baywatch made $177,856,750 at the worldwide box office (via Red One will be streaming on Prime Video on December 12.

Since the film hasn't been profitable, it would be nice if it at least made more money than Baywatch.

If Red One made more money than Baywatch, it at least wouldn't be seen as such a notable failure in Johnson's career. Red One making just a little more money and beating Baywatch's total haul would be the only silver lining in its poor box office performance, but it currently seems like that may not happen. Regardless of the movie's box office performance, Red One will still likely be a success on streaming when it finally arrives on Prime Video.
