The original John Marston Actor Is Down For A Red Dead Redemption RemasterTwitter videotech_ recently reported that Red Dead Redemption was removed from PlayStation Plus and PlayStation Now earlier this week (via PushSquare), roughly six years after it was first added in 2016. This has left PlayStation owners without any means to replay Red Dead Redemption if they don’t still have a working PS3, as the game is currently only available to play on Xbox consoles and PC emulators.
PlayStation 5 & PS4 Owners Can No Longer Replay Red Dead Redemption
Backward compatibility has always been a topic of debate in the gaming community, as while the Xbox Series X/S allows for backward compatibility across all previous Xbox generations, the PlayStation 5 only s PS4 disks. Sony has been looking to remedy this perceived shortcoming by adding a new catalog of classic games to its revamped PlayStation Plus service, but this is still limited to a select lineup of games from the PS3, PS2, PS1, and PSP eras, and is powered through streaming, excluding those on weaker internet connections.
Preserving classic video games is an important subject to many gamers, especially titles as beloved and impactful as the original Red Dead Redemption. With Red Dead Redemption now removed from PlayStation Plus and no current-gen Red Ded Redemption remaster in sight from Rockstar, it seems that PlayStation owners who tossed out their old PS3 consoles have no way to replay Rockstar's seminal open-world Western epic unless they also own an Xbox system or are willing to emulate it on PC. Hopefully, Sony finds some way to bring the original Red Dead Redemption back to the PS4 and PS5 soon, as many still want this legendary title preserved for future gaming generations.
