Jen Shah, one of the stars of RHOSLC: Why Jen Shah’s Felony Fraud Sentencing Was Postponed
RHOSLC's Jen Shah 'Deeply Sorry' In Court
Inner City Press reported on the comments Jen made in court. Prior to being sentenced, Jen gave an emotional performance for the court. She spoke through tears, saying she was "deeply sorry" for her actions. Jen went on to seemingly throw RHOSLC under the bus, saying what fans see on TV is a character and not the real her. "It has nothing to do with reality," she quipped about the way Bravo paints her. She gave her Shah-mazing tagline as an example, saying the network wrote it for her.
As for Jen's fate on RHOSLC, the star seems hopeful. For one thing, her nearly seven-year sentence is half the prison time she initially faced. Also, it appears that Jen believes she is still a part of the RHOSLC cast and that her Bravo paycheck will help her pay the $9 million restitution she owes to victims. Those victims include thousands of vulnerable people nationwide who were tricked by her telemarketing fraud scheme. However, Bravo has not made any official announcements regarding her future on RHOSLC.
In fact, the network has yet to put out any official response to Jen's verdict, but given the circumstances, it would be in poor taste for them to keep her on RHOSLC at this point. While it may bring in high ratings, employing Jen during this time would be putting a band-aid on the major wound she's left on countless individuals. Waiting until after she's served time and the victims have been paid would be a more moral route. But then again, it is the reality television business, so only time will tell.
The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City airs Wednesdays at 8 p.m. EST on Bravo.
