An acclaimed supernatural procedural drama starring one of Lee Child's Jack Reacher books, Amazon's Reacher has had an incredibly successful run primarily because it stays true to the essence of its source material. There are times when it deviates from the original Jack Reacher books' stories, but it only does so when it serves to deepen character beats or raise the stakes for the titular character's crime-solving endeavors.
However, even though Reacher mostly benefits from staying true to its source material and adapting one Jack Reacher book per season, its loyalty to the Lee Child novels prevents it from featuring recurring characters. With each new season, Jack Reacher finds himself in a new location where he almost completely loses touch with the characters he encountered in the previous season. Since Reacher season 1 had some incredible characters, it is hard not to notice their absence or limited appearance in season 2.
Oscar Finlay Actor Malcolm Goodwin Shined In iZombie For 5 Seasons
He Played A Character Named Clive In The Long-Running Series
In recent years, Malcolm Goodwin has become more recognizable for his roles in acclaimed shows like Reacher and The Fall of the House of Usher. However, long before he stepped into the boots of the two law-enforcing characters in the book adaptations, he played a Seattle Police Department homicide detective, Clive Babineaux, in five seasons of iZombie. Based on the comic book series of the same name by Chris Roberson and Mike Allred, iZombie had an incredible five-season run, and almost all of its installments garnered positive reviews from viewers and critics.

All Jack Reacher Books In Order (Where To Start)
The Amazon Prime Video television show Reacher is based on Lee Child’s Jack Reacher books – read on for all the novels in the lengthy series.
As one of the leading cast in iZombie, Malcolm Goodwin appeared in all 71 episodes of the series. With his acting forte, he did an incredible job at portraying Clive's vibrant personality and dedication to his job as a law enforcer. Goodwin also brought immense charm and energy to the role, which made Clive Babineaux one of the most memorable characters from the show. Interestingly, Reacher and iZombie, it is hard not to notice how Malcolm Goodwin's characters from the two shows are similar in more ways than one.
Malcolm Goodwin’s Reacher Role Was Surprisingly Similar To His iZombie Character
Both Characters Are Police Detectives
In Reacher and iZombie, Malcolm Goodwin plays a no-nonsense detective character who teams up with someone with special gifts. He teams up with Rose McIver's Live Moore in iZombie, who helps the Seattle Police Department solve crimes and mysteries using her psychic retrocognitive powers. Similarly, he s forces with Alan Ritchson's Jack Reacher in Reacher season 1 to get to the bottom of a criminal conspiracy in the small town of Margrave. Jack Reacher does not possess supernatural abilities but is special like Liv Moore in the sense that he has exceptional strength and deductive skills.
While being typecast as the morally righteous law enforcer may not benefit the actor in the long run, he seems to perfectly embody such characters on the small screen.
Although Goodwin's Reacher is far more uptight and stern than iZombie's Clive, he has an engaging buddy-cop dynamic with Jack Reacher like the one Clive shares with Live in iZombie. A closer look at Malcolm Goodwin's character in The Fall of the House of Usher reveals that he has played similar roles in many TV shows. While being typecast as the morally righteous law enforcer may not benefit the actor in the long run, he seems to perfectly embody such characters on the small screen.
