There are lots of hidden secrets in dressed as John Marston, no less) and can display their new friend proudly in their home at Beecher's Hope.

However, not everyone at Beecher's Hope is a fan of the stuffed squirrel, and after twenty-four in-game hours the statue will have mysteriously disappeared. Players then have to search around the farm and find where the squirrel statue has been hidden, replace it, and then repeat the entire process again. This happens five different times, and then finally, after discovering the statue at the top of Mt. Shann, the player is rewarded with an achievement trophy for Red Dead Redemption 2 titled "It's Art."

According to a recent Reddit post by a who goes by u/Schneir5, it looks like that may not be the end of the story. The post, which is embedded below, states that they succeeded in returning Red Dead Redemption 2's squirrel statue to John's home at Beecher's Hope, and the has confirmed that they received the It's Art achievement trophy, but now the squirrel has once again vanished, and it doesn't look like it's Abigail's fault this time. u/Schneir5 wonders "if this is a bug that most people just never see, since it's pretty rare to get that achievement in the first place. I wonder if Rockstar games would care."

It looks like u/Schneir5 may have been the first player to notice this mysterious seventh disappearance of the squirrel statue, with one  responding with "That's the first time I've heard of that glitch," and many, many others expressing surprise that the squirrel statue could be recovered at all. Another stated that they think "the last one is the serial killers basement" but provided no proof to back up the statement.

This particular Red Dead Redemption 2 mystery is likely a glitch or a bug which, like u/Schneir5 noted, was probably so rarely noticed (if noticed at all) that Rockstar wouldn't be remiss for overlooking it. However, it is disappointing that a player's squirrel statue has the chance of disappearing for good, especially after all the hard work they put in to both earning and repeatedly re-finding it. If this truly is a bug, and not a final, hidden quest regarding the stuffed squirrel statue, then Rockstar should find a way to patch it so that players like u/Schneir5 who did put in the work can proudly keep their Red Dead Redemption 2 art on display. If not... bring on the sentient squirrel theories.
