What This Means For The Rainmaker
The Rainmaker Has Made Exciting Changes To The Material
The USA TV remake of The Rainmaker has made several changes to one of Grisham's best-selling books. This gender-swapping Bruiser (Lana Parrilla), a role previously played by Rourke, but the character will now be portrayed by the Once Upon A Time star. As seen in the trailer, the remake also features new storylines, teasing Rudy going against his girlfriend, Sarah (Madison Iseman), who works at Drummond's law firm, whereas in the movie, Damon's character develops a relationship with Kelly, a woman he met in the hospital while seeking clients.
While the TV show seems like an entirely different entry from Damon's 1997 movie, it still explores the same theme about courage and taking a moral stand for what's right.
The Rainmaker TV adaptation incorporates a variety of more high-stakes situations, but Callaghan's performance in the trailer preserves the characteristics of Damon's Rudy, who is at the center of the story. While the TV show seems like an entirely different entry from Damon's 1997 movie, it still explores the same theme about courage and taking a moral stand for what's right.
Our Take On The Rainmaker's First Trailer
Milo Callaghan Shines In The Rainmaker Remake
USA's new Rainmaker show has serious potential. While being adapted to the television format, the story has become more explosive and intense. In comparison to the Matt Damon movie, the new TV remake features more plot twists, which is expected since a full season is much longer in form.
On the other hand, it's not hard to imagine the series being expanded beyond 10 episodes. Callaghan, who can also be seen in the cast of Dune: Prophecy and FBI: International, captures what made Damon's young lawyer someone to root for in the 1997 film, and seeing that charisma shine even brighter in USA's The Rainmaker series is very exciting.
