Over the seasons, we saw the ladies of Sex and The City make some very questionable choices. Fans often wondered what they were thinking with some of the guys that they chose to date. Everyone pondered their moves and their life journeys as Carrie, Miranda, Charlotte, and Samantha lived life to the fullest during their time in New York City.
Some of their life choices ended up working out for the best. Miranda took the plunge and got hitched, moving to Brooklyn. Carrie gave Big that one last shot, sealing their future together. Charlotte gave a bald lawyer her attention, which turned out to be her fairytale ending. While these life choices were the right ones, others, fans weren't so sure about.
Carrie's Many Fashion Faux Pas
Carrie played a talented, eccentric writer who embraced all things out of the box, including her fashion. If she liked it, she wore it. She never had any qualms about prancing down the New York streets in a tutu. Carrie's fashion decisions were sometimes spot on, and other times they were questionable.
Just think of all the times that she met editors or protective employers while looking like a young kid playing dress up in Grandma's closet. More than a few of her outfits were questionable, to be certain.
Samantha Cheated On Smith
Samantha has never been good at love, and she has done some bad things, so when she seemingly settled down with Smith Jerrod, viewers were a bit surprised. And while the couple did last for many years, even living together out in California at one point, they had their fair share of bumps in the relationship road.
Sam made a questionable move when she went back to Richard for a split moment during her relationship with Smith. Smith took her back, forgiving her, but the move was not great on Samantha's part.
Carrie's Triangle With Aiden And Big
Carrie and Big proved to be a trainwreck in those early seasons, so when she moved on to stable, dependable, and seriously good looking Aiden, fans thought, finally! Carrie seemed to be moving in the right direction with her love life until she took a hard left into the Land of Mr. Big.
Even though Big was hitched and Carrie was finally in a solid relationship, the two managed to find their way back into one another's arms, causing relationship destruction everywhere. This hookup was certainly a questionable life decision.
Samantha's Name Drop
Samantha has had some high profile clients over the years, and one of those was Lucy Liu. At one point, Samantha was desperate to score the brand new Birken bag. She decided to make a (questionable) move and use Lucy's well-known name to move her up on the purse waiting list.
Her questionable decision was certainly not good for business, as Lucy Lui found out about the sketchy move that she tried to pull and fired her.
Carrie's Move To Paris
Fans never thought they would see the day that Carrie Bradshaw left the Big Apple. After all, she WAS New York! Carrie took off for the City of Lights to follow her artist-boyfriend, Alexandr Petrovsky. She had her reservations about the transition, but nevertheless, she carried on with her master plan.
Unfortunately for Carrie, everything that could go wrong in Paris did. Before long, Carrie and her new man were done, and she was headed back home to New York City to pick up the pieces of her life.
Miranda Let Go Of Dr. Leeds
Miranda landed one heck of a man in Dr. Leeds, played by Blair Underwood. He seemed to check every single box that Miranda had when searching for a perfect partner. Things seemed to be going great between them, but one thing was missing: he was not "Mr. Nice Guy," Steve.
Miranda let Dr. Leeds go because she still had feelings for Steve. Some thought this was a questionable life move and that Miranda would have been better off with the doctor, while others thought that Steve was always the one.
Carrie Sent Aiden To Help Miranda Instead Of Going Herself
when poor Miranda threw her neck out and found herself stranded in her bathroom in the nude? She did what anyone would do and called her person: Carrie. Carrie, in yet another questionable life decision, decided to send her then-boyfriend Aiden to the rescue.
Carrie neglected to let Miranda know he was coming instead of her and Aiden walked in on quite a scene. Everyone was embarrassed, Miranda was furious, and Carrie had to think about what it meant to be a good friend.
Samantha Crushed Maria
Samantha got involved with a woman named Maria, and at first, viewers thought that this might be a good move on her part. Maybe a shift in her same old routine might wake up some new tender emotions in the often emotionally closed-off Sam. But the move proved questionable, mostly because of Samantha's commitment issues.
Maria was more than ready to give all of herself to Samantha, while Samantha was ... well, the same old Sam. Knowing Sam was still unable to commit to a loving partner was one of the sadder aspects of her character. She eventually left Maria high and dry, breaking her heart in the process.
Carrie Chose A Man Over Herself
Carrie dated the self-involved artist Alexandr Petrovsky and many questionable life choices came out of this relationship, including when Carrie put the guy's needs before her own.
She had a party thrown in her honor, but she went to Petrovsky's art exhibit instead of attending. This was not the Carrie fans knew and loved, and viewers could not help but feel as if she was losing herself by dating this man. When they broke up, no one was exactly sad.
Charlotte's Initial Man Criteria
It is no great secret that a young Charlotte was on the hunt to settle down with a well-to-do man, which was something that was a bit sad about her. Her criteria for men included that he must be handsome, well-bred, and wealthy, so when she met Trey, she figured she had hit the jackpot.
Trey came with his fair share of baggage, and red flags were all over the place. Still, Charlotte tried to make things work in their union, and watching them was like watching someone try and shove a square peg into a round hole. Staying as long as she did with a man so wrong for her was a questionable move by Charlotte.
