Everyone’s favorite and fabulous five hosts of Netflix’s Queer Eye - Jonathan Van Ness, Antoni Porowski, Karamo Brown, Bobby Berk and Tan - ed Jimmy Fallon on Tuesday night over a virtual session to discuss the latest fifth season. Amidst the ongoing cultural and political climate, the Fab Five spoke about their experiences while shooting in Philadelphia, life during the pandemic, and advice for every hero out there.

Last night’s edition of The Tonight Show saw Jimmy Fallon congratulating Tan on his newly acquired American citizenship after twenty years of waiting. Since marrying American-born Illustrator, Rob in 2007, the Queer Eye star stated that he’d been "kicked out" of the country numerous times, to the extent of having to stay apart from his husband for six years. The process thus has been a very emotional experience for Tan and ing to vote now tops his priority list. weighed in by saying, "We need every vote. Every vote counts." Speaking about the new 5th season of the emotional Netflix show, Jimmy Fallon congratulated the team for their efforts at dealing with any situation that comes their way. Culture expert Karamo Brown stated that even though the show premiered during the on-going situations, it allows the audience to take a mental and emotional recharge break which that’s necessary so they can come back stronger. Since its premiere in 2018, Queer Eye has been instrumental in motivating and helping people reinvent themselves, so it was quite natural for Fallon to ask the Fab Five for their go-to life advice.

While referring to the show’s participants as heroes, the Fab Five spoke about how they helped empower individuals who come in all shapes and sizes to give us hope. And in order to get them to do what they’re experts in, Fallon asked each of them for pieces of advice that have become their go-to in the last five seasons. Keeping things simple, Brown stressed on the fact that it’s okay to put yourself first. Even though everyone is out to help others, it’s not selfish to lift yourself up. He emphasised, "Focus on you, so you can focus on others."

Similarly, Tan spoke about how the way one presents themselves to the world is of prime importance. His advice to all the heroes out there was, "Be kinder to yourself." Redecoration wizard Bobby Berk’s message about visibility to the LGBTQ+ community stood out. Referencing the Black Lives Matter movement, Bobby said, "Visibility is one of the most important things to help change."

Meanwhile, on a lighter note, food and wine expert Antoni Porowski surprised everyone with a tip about microwaving lemons."Microwave a lemon for five seconds before you squeeze it and you’ll get a lot more juice out,"  quipped Porowski, before sharing that people, be it the heroes or the audience should educate themselves with the help of all resources available. The show’s grooming expert Jonathan Van Ness brought up the topic of people giving themselves quarantine haircuts. He asked people to respect the services offered by expert hairdressers and salons, in order to prevent corrections later.

The popular show which has now been continuing to challenge norms. With season six being set in the traditionally conservative state of Texas, it will be interesting to see how Queer Eye keeps spreading the message of love and empathy.
